Xfinity is just simply genius. Everyone in our neighborhood, specifically our street, has been complaining for a couple years that the current infrastructure is overwhelmed and slow and for years they have telling us that we are on the list for an upgrade to fiber. Yay, that's great. So what do they do, they told us today that starting tomorrow morning at 7am the cable and internet will be done for at least 24-36 hours.

Wait, what? Who is the genius that decided in the middle of what is pretty much a city wide lock down, with many people working from home and relying on internet, including myself, that killing the internet on a work day would be a good idea? Of course it has to be on a day that I am scheduled to give an online presentation to at least 20 people so now I get to try and figure out how and where to find internet service so I can actually work.

Use your phone as a hotspot and bill your company if you go over your data.

Company phone and without the ability to use as a hotspot. The function is not even on the phone.

To be fair, they've probably been planning the work for several weeks if not months before the Great Corona Panic of 2020 hit.

Now why it wasn't cancelled and re-scheduled, that's probably due to them contracting the work out and those guys likely don't give a crap because if they're not working, they're not getting paid. This is just the next work order on their list.

ETA: Yeah, you're screwed. Give your presentation standing outside a Starbucks since you can't go inside.

Now there's a silver lining. It would be nice to get outside in the middle of the day instead of sitting in the home office.

If they have had it planned that long, you would think they could give more than 24 hours notice that it was coming...

Sounds like it's time to throw the company phone & laptop into your backpack and bunker down and fap.

Wait a minute - does this mean that you also don't get porn any longer?
