More than half the population wants to be dominated.

They crave it and love every minute of it.

It gives their life meaning.

I thought they're being tracked through the state health authority, same as immunization records. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The number of outwardly fit & healthy people I see in their 20's and early-30's who are always wearing masks out in public astounds me.

The microchip that was given in the second shot is already tracking them...

It really does bother me. I want to go engage these people to try and figure out their mindset but that would be weird. I dont even want to be ride about it, I just want to understand. I really do hate what it has done to the younger crowd.

Then there are people like my fully-vaccinated mother who still wears a mask in HEB. She says she's "modeling good behavior."

I just roll my eyes because I can't get into it with her.

I think people like her wear it because it feels weird not to wear one.

My personal stance is that I think they are useless but I will do it if the business requires it (my patience is wearing out though). I will prioritize going to businesses that don't require one. I went to three places this past weekend that leave it up to the customer (no mask sign on the door). I think you will see this more and more. Big box stores will be the last to give in.

Possibly.

I haven't worn one in HEB in a while and the only other store I can recall going to recently was Academy and didn't wear one then. Nobody bothered me.

Didn't wear one at the Astros game either.

Wife said Target didn't bother her for the first time a couple of days ago. I might actually stop going 5-10mins out of my way to avoid the place now.

That's good to hear. My HEB still posts a teenager at the door handing out masks.

What was the Astros crowd like in your seats? I'm going in a few weeks and was concerned that I'd end up sitting next to strangers that believe the fear porn.

That's about where I'm at. I carry one in case it's "required;" I'm not going to make a scene at some local business that's trying to do whatever they think they're supposed to do to stay open and get along w/ local authorities or busybodies. But the ones still making a voluntary point of it have slid down the priority list.

My HEB has dropped all "required" signage and just says please wear a mask. There's normally an employee at the entrance but he isn't saying anything to anyone and I haven't had one word said to me the 4 times I've been since the mandate lifted

That being said, there have been no more than 5 of us in the store without a mask at any time so Richmond is still corona bro strong

This. We had a family member of my wife visit us from Oregon. When we went to the store, she took her mask off and enjoyed it for a few minutes, then felt guilty seeing so many masked and put hers back on.

More than likely. As it gets hotter, I expect we'll see more and more people ditching them

I have a kid who lives down the street from me who's late teens and very fit. Runs like a cross country runner and nearly every day for the last year I see him take off/return from a run or bike ride wearing a mask. One day recently I saw him take off without a mask and I thought that maybe the spell had been broken but then the next time he was wearing it again.

Parents are huge libs based in their yard signage.

Mine has that but they're not real insistent. You can tell they don't want to be doing it and are forced to. It's usually, "would you like a mask sir?" And I politely say "no thanks, I'm good" and nobody says anything.

But it still blows my mind at the number of people wearing masks below the nose. I mean if you're gonna be a sheeple, don't half-ass it.

I am curious if a lot of people continue to wear them because they think they'll get harassed if they don't? I haven't even gotten a weird look, let alone anyone saying anything.

Old lady (owners I presumed) at The Little Watch Shop told me to put one after I had been sitting waiting for 20 minutes to get battery changed.

I'm mostly just doing what the businesses ask. If that's what they want done in their place then I do it. If they don't care I don't. It's less about being worried about somebody saying something than it is just trying to respect their request. I suspect we're going to start seeing businesses ease off relatively soon. I noticed our HEB at least wasn't making the cart guys wear them and it seemed like their other outside people weren't really keeping them on unless somebody walked up.

Same at my HEB. I usually try to walk past quickly and without making eye contact. If I hear them offer me a mask, I say "No, thank you" and keep walking. Other stores that still require them, I either wear a mask or just don't go inside.

My fitness studio stopped requiring masks in the lobby yesterday. We were all thrilled and literally put our masks in the trash right then.

Stupid Market Street has a facility-wide policy that all the stores have to adhere to. Last hold-out where I really like to shop is Trader Joe's. I think they are West Coast-based, so it will probably be a while.

What gyms are requiring them? Since the Abbot mask mandate the first week was 50/50 and this week 1 of 40 has a mask.

Have to say the whole wide ranging psychoanalysis of this mask thing is pretty entertaining to observe as one who really doesn't give a damn one way or the other. First world problems indeed.

It's not really a gym. It's a fitness studio that offers very specific classes. It's a franchise, and I suspect this was a corporate policy. We only had to wear them in the lobby (took them off as soon as we went in the room for class), but it was still annoying.

The YMCAs up here all still have mandatory signs up, too. People take them off, but I've been working with a personal trainer and she wears one, so I wear mine, too. I think it's a requirement for employees. That's only once a week, so I suck it up.

I just don't want to wear one because I'm fully vaccinated. You can't believe vaccines work and think masks are still necessary. And any scientist or engineer who does believe this should have to return their diplomas.

However, over the course of the last year, I have learned that I have a VERY hard time recognizing people when they are wearing a mask. To the point where I have some sort of awkward exchange almost every day. And it happens even with people I know very well.

I'm also over the skin irritation that the mask causes.

I just really don't want to have to think about these things anymore. They are a distraction that serves absolutely no purpose at this point. I only have so much space in my brain, and I want to go back to wondering where my keys and phone are rather than whether or not I need and have a mask.

And most people are like you, wearing one because other people are. You have had covid AND the vaccine. You should never put a mask on again in your GD life. No offense meant,, but You need to be a part of the solution and not a part of the problem.

I'm not wearing it because other people are, I'm wearing it when a place of business requires it.

I don't want to get kicked out of the places I really want/need to be. My fitness studio is a very small community of people, and I know the owners well. They've been wanting to get rid of the mask requirement but haven't been able to. The only thing that's gets accomplished if I cause a stink there is I don't get to go to my exercise class. Since I didn't have to wear a mask during class, it wasn't worth the fight.

Other places, I just avoid going there, or limit how often I go (like the Y).

We haven't been to church more than a couple of times in the last year because masks are still required. That one really bugs me, but again, it's not a fight I'm going to win.

I can't be the one-woman mask police any more than I can stop people from speeding like maniacs in my residential neighborhood or keep the people I work with from parking in the spaces that are too small for their giant vehicles.

I just don't have the energy for that kind of confrontation, especially with strangers.

I just dont wear one anymore. Signs be damned. If you want to force me to wear one, provide me one. That's on you now, not me. I've only been turned away from one place, that didnt any have masks available, a fro yo shop in the Heights (no surprise). No big deal, went somewhere else where they don't care. HEB, I just politely say no thanks and carry on, most of the time they dont bother to ask. Walmart and Kroger doesn't care. And everywhere else I tend to go now, including gym and church, doesn't require them. Thank God, El Tiempo is back to normal, haha. Now if I could get Tony's on Ella to chill.
