Surly he can't be serious.

Also, does anybody think Sly and Dora could competently handle vaccine distribution? I know I don't.

Fair to assume Abbott thought they wanted to Stay Home Stay Safe (TM).

Neither Turner nor Hidalgo have ever accomplished a single thing apart from win an election, and Hidalgo did that by accident and Turner on the 20th attempt.

Coworker got vaccinated this weekend through Harris county Public Health (at Planet Ford). Said it was quick, easy, organized, and he didn't even have to get out of his car. He got an email with a barcode, and they scanned that to keep track. No other ID or other verification needed.

There are accounts on the Covid forum about the CoH vaccine site at Minute Maid Stadium. People with appointments stood in line for 2+ hours only to be told they ran out of vaccine because they had too many walk-ups.

Looking at TMC website, things look to be starting to flatten out or even decline a bit.

Positivity rate is now under 13% and has been under 15% for at least a week.

Also looks like hospitalizations are starting to go on the decline.

I have to think we should start to see some positives associated with the significant ramp up in vaccinations that are taking place with the 65+ age group.

Just a reminder that while cases are definitely higher than they were post-BLM spike, the deaths are nowhere near the record level.

We're treating this better and more efficiently.

So a little one (3 yrs old) in one of the daycare classes pops positive. Had some sniffles and congestion. No one in the house or class tested positive. Turns out we hear a couple days later she has a double ear infection.

My guess is false positive but regardless it's a positive and no school for 2 weeks.

Or a large number of these cases are actually the flu being classified as COVID

This is almost certainly the case: per CDC - record low flu cases

Quote:

During the 2019 flu season from Sept. 29 to Dec. 28, the CDC reported more than 65,000 cases of influenza nationwide. During the same period this flu season, the agency reported 1,016 cases.
So there's a 98%+ drop in flu cases year-over-year while covid's rampant spread continues unabated. Sure thing. #sarcasm

Agreed. I don't look at the number of cases. It's an irrelevant number because it's completely dependent on the number of available tests, which is massive compared to where it was even a couple months ago.

So TMC reported 3500 positive cases yesterday, but the % positive actually went down. Tells you they are doing just an absolutely huge amount of tests right now.

I like to think my negative rapid test helped to drive that down too haha.

Well now that Diamond Joe is in the office, any chance our threat level gets lowered to yellow?

I did see the WHO published an update regarding false positive tests right after he was sworn in. This should lower overall cases, correct?

In two weeks when they can assign full credit for more vaccines and say his "mask mandate" worked. TMC charts are already showing we've already been on the downside of the new cases and hospitalization curve...so the timing will work out perfectly.

This comes a few days to a week after:

Cuomo stating lockdowns are hurting the economy
Chicago mayor telling teachers to get back into the classrooms or they won't get paid
Newsweek running a story stating the lockdowns haven't worked
WHO stating the PCR tests amplification rates lead to false positives
NPR stating COVID surge has peaked
Never Trumper Republican governor of MA beginning to open things up

Anyone who bought into this charade and wasn't able to see this was 100% political should have to wear a sheep costume the rest of their life. Does that mean people didn't die of this? No. People have and people have also died from many other things that didn't lead us to shutting down the economy to win an election.

WHO also released some guidance that a positive PCR and no clinical symptoms should not be considered "positive" until a second test confirms.

And released a day after a new administration was inaugurated. Hmmm...just a coincidence, I'm sure. Without this "guidance," a positive PCR without symptoms was a positive test, thus my initial statement is correct.

If Trump had the ability to communicate above a 3rd grade level he could have weathered this. People can blame COVID for defeating Trump but he never gave himself any help.

I'm fine with that you said and don't disagree too much.

Just curious what you think he should have communicated that would have helped him weather COVID.

They're apparently opening up a covid testing site at the old Jack in the box at Washington and Shepherd (across from el ray). The whole set up looked sketchy as hell. Like wake up in a bath tub full of ice sketchy.

I've thought about how easy it would be for gypsies to set up a tent and a printer and get some swabs and just poke around in peoples noses for $150 bucks while they wait in their car for 15 minutes and they print out a random yes or no result.

That building looks like an abandoned crack house. Might take a crew of 100 a week to get it operable.
