Government stupidity never ceases to amaze me

the county is only going to be capable of designing a queue based on the easiest possible thing to check

they might as well just do it based on age and the last digit of your SS number

trying to evaluate pre-existing conditions in a crisis for priority is insane

Well it is a good thing they waited until the vaccine was ready to get this all figured out. I mean who could have thought to get this all setup months in advance so that issues could be sorted out and rollout would be seamless. No one knew a vaccine was coming!! Well you know except everyone knew that was the plan 9 months ago.

I think they have fully absorbed the modern political theory that they can't actually do anything apart from apply for grants from DC and then hand out the proceeds to their friends. The mayor of Chicago actually blamed Trump in a tweet for their local CF of a rollout.

They want someone from the CDC or National Guard or some other federal agency to show up and do their job for them so they don't have to divert their attention from the suitcases full of cash that their favored vendors drop off at their place in Florida .

Any particular .gov giving it a go is probably a 50/50 shot at best, irrespective of the D's or R's in charge. "Leave it up to the feds" just means they'll just fire the money cannon at the states and you'll have a spectrum of F ups instead of one galactic F up.

While that is totally not expected of then, the rodeo has proven to be many orders of magnitude more competent than the chuckleheads in local government at running anything.

And it is only temperature requirements for the Pfizer vaccine and that is only until they are ready to use it when they can take it out of deep freeze.

The real answer is because people think that they are more important than others. The health departments main focus should be underserved communities but I have seen multiple people on Facebook that are upset that they couldn't get an appointment this weekend. They are 30 something's with jobs that they work from home. Call your PCP and get in line. The health department has 3000 shots for a city of 2.5 million. You are not their target audience.

But since the fear train has been ratcheted up so high that you have convinced portions of the population that going outside is a death sentence, you are going to have 100,000 people calling your health department at one time to get a shot that they don't qualify for.

Just a reminder that it was Lina Hidalgo and the Democrats on Harris County commissioners court who gave out that ridiculous no-bid contract to a local company. I believe Turner at the time said he didn't see the need.

A week ago, there were 404 current ICU COVID patients at TMC and 1,298 total ICU occupancies.
Today there's 488 current ICU COVID patients and 1,375 total ICU occupancies.

The helpful little graph below shows that we're at 62% total ICU occupancy with still plenty of surge potential, but Lina would have you know they're teetering.

UK going into mandatory 6 week lockdown - im sure our national and local leaders are all beating off at the thought, and will probably follow suit.
