1. Brisket House (best BBQ sauce as well - served hot)
2. Killens
3. Rudy's (always consistent)
4. Goode Co.
5. Truth (decent but overhyped)
6. Blood Brothers (disappointed - brisket was very moist but lacked flavor)

Haven't tried...
Corkscrew (next on my list)

Pappas does everything well except the brisket. I am pissed that they changed their potato salad.

I haven't tried a lot of places in town - this is just my list from restaurants I have tried. Look forward to Corkscrew. Was out of Texas for almost 20 years (Montana to Louisiana to Florida and back home) - so I have a lot of catching up to do.

Please share reviews of your favorite places - always enjoy trying out a new place.

I know Pappas took over Luther's BBQ but is the food quality the same/better/worse? Thanks in advance...

Funny thing is that about 10 years ago (maybe 15) there really was almost nothing in Houston that qualified as great BBQ. Now we've got a bunch.

I'd add Roegel's to the list of top BBQ joints in the Tine.

Maybe a chortle or perhaps a chuckle. Perhaps mildly ironic.

*also funny because 10-15 years ago Pappas BBQ and Goode Co. would probably be legitimately in the discussion for top 10 BBQ spots in Houston.

If "Houston area" includes Alvin, Joe's BBQ needs to be included. The beef "dinosaur" ribs are amazing. As a side note. they have the best fried shrimp (Tuesday only) I've ever tasted. I live on the coast and have eaten a ton of fried shrimp.

Venture out to Rosenberg and go to Witt's Pitt. You can thank me later.

Another vote for the Witt Pit. Also, Galvan's in Richmond. Their brisket is simply OK, but they have great pork ribs and the best sausage I've ever found.

Yep. I remember doing a run to Burns and another one N of TC Jester and 43rd with some bbq snobs and it was the best stuff I'd ever had. Now we're spoiled.

Gatlins is hit or miss, their turkey and pastrami sandwich is pretty solid. Only been to Killens once, but it was pretty good.

Good list, but I would add Pit Room

If you are willing to drive out to Spring for Corkscrew, which is excellent, I would also recommend Tejas Chocolate and BBQ in Tomball, which is also excellent.

This is about as accurate as this board will get. Pinkerton s is great. I was terribly unimpressed by Gatlin's in the new spot. Killen's was good the one time I went, and had Wagyu burnt ends as the special. But not out of this world.

We go there as a family at least once a month. I don't think it qualifies as "great" but I'd consider it consistently above-average. Which is pretty damn good IMHO.

Haven't been to Corkscrew or Killen's yet. Been really wanting to try Corkscrew especially, but I can basically walk to Truth now, which makes it hard for me to venture to Spring. But pretty much agree with your list from 3 down. I'd put Jackson St. in above Gatlin's though. Partly because I think it's better, Gatlin's has been straight up bad the two times I've been, and partly because I love going there and having some bbq and a few drinks before the Astros game for less than what a damn hot dog and beer would cost me.

I was in the room here one day... watchin' the Mexican channel on TV. I don't know nothin' about Pele. I'm watchin' what this guy can do with a ball and his feet. Next thing I know, he jumps in the air and flips into a somersault and kicks the ball in - upside down and backwards... the dang (sc) goalie never knew what the hell hit him. Pele gets excited and he rips off his jersey and starts running around the stadium waving it around his head. Everybody's screaming in Spanish. I'

Bud's House of Meat on Cullen is what you're looking for. 3 Meat plate with sides is $13.95 and I've never seen anyone finish the whole thing.
