Mel's in Tomball. Not Houston but excellent.

I also like ordering breakfast there because you get a minimum of 2 plates because it won't fit on one.
I'm ashamed that I've never been to a Kelly's.
Had Mia's for the first time a few weeks ago, both the cfs and CFC were really good.

I just drive up to the Fort Shiloh Grill.

Lucille's in the Museum district has a pretty good one, but you can only get it for weekend Brunch.

The BRC was the tits, but alas - it is long gone.
Out of town a bit, but the Jay Cafe in Needville has a hell for good CFS. Dixie Cafe on the south side is solid as well.

It's a little difficult to compare chicken fried beef cutlet with actual cuts of steak. STQ's CFS is amazing but it's a ribeye. It's got a serious advantage.
Hickory Hollow is still open by the horse track. It's not the best but it's pretty good with that river bottom gravy.
Floyd's Cajun Kitchen has a pretty good one as well. They have gravy made with cream and it's pretty damn tasty.
I'll have to give Mia's a try.
