Just started a new job in Baytown. Any restaurants I need to visit? Yelp is really not helpful. Went to Roosters the other day and it was fine. I have previously tried the bbq joint by the hospital on Garth and wasn't terribly impressed. Currently sitting in Jasons Deli enjoying a salad, but I prefer non chains.

What's most interesting to me is that I would have considered Baytown one of the worst suburbs of Houston 5-10 years ago. Now, not so much. I think that speaks mostly to the decline of other Houston suburbs, but Baytown is seeing a resurgence.

When I worked in Baytown, we went to Iguana Joe's a lot. Its not the best Mexican food, but its decent enough and has a good lunch special. The plant I worked at was next to The Burger Barn. I never ate there but heard they had good burgers. Also, oddly enough Laredo Taco in the Sunoco/Stripes gas station has awesome tacos.

Edit to add Pappadeaux's near Channelview/Beltway. Pretty short drive from Baytown and would go there for lunch a lot as well.

I'm not the one claiming Baytown is having a resurgence. I think it's becoming more like the others

Gotcha. I don't think anyone ever claimed there weren't worse places to live.

I was just curious about which suburbs Baytown had leapfrogged in the Top 40 chart.

I'm not trying to make the case that Baytown is some great place to live. The point is that the overwhelming majority of Houston sucks and there's not a lot that separates the crappy parts.

You're crazy. Besides Alief, Almeda, and Aldine, I would take the rest of your list over Baytown. Hell, parts of Alief are pretty nice.

The only one of those that would remotely be considered a suburb is Alief anyway. It's mostly been swallowed up by Houston for the most part.
