I used to live near Washington/Studemont and would run near the bayou every night. One night HPD was riding the trail and I asked him, "what can be done about the homeless tent town under the bridge"? He laughed and said "what are we gonna do, ticket them"!
I just drove by Commerce and Canal/59 elevated. They have evicted the homeless out of the underpass, but now they're all set up on private property to the immediate south.

I saw that this morning. 75% of the tents are gone.. I wonder where they shipped them off to?

the winds were strong last night, maybe mother nature relocated the tents.
Lots more homeless have popped up under the overpass at 610S and Main. I've seen tents a few times too.
The best tent is right near the northwest transit center. See it every day on the bus from downtown.
Clothes lines, wood pallet side walk, pots and pans.

There are 6-7 tents under I-10 next to the 45 hov lane you are leaving downtown. They've got a pretty sweet setup, grill, pet dog, bicycles, shopping carts, etc.
I saw a couple of tents under 59 and those guys had a bench press weight lifting bench with some free weights.

After the civil war in Houston there was a shanty town on the west side of downtown called Vinegar Hill. It's where all the fun stuff happened. The FD occasionally would use the high pressure hoses to wash them into buffalo bayou. Precedent has been set.

they moved back under 59 elevated downtown and left a ton of trash on the privately owned lot. Its amazing How much trash accumulated in one day.

The 59 elevated camps have been moved. There is fencing up now underneath 59 so the camps have been relocated. Anyone know what the city is doing with the homeless during this?
Heard the mayor has been offering a select few consulting gigs at city hall.
