Does Tony have any chance of winning this?

I would guess that Turner will get 90% of the black vote and I think most are ignorant of his corruption.

The Houston Mayoral Election is a nonpartisan blanket primary so all of the interested candidates run against each other without a D or R next to their name. Based on name recognition and being the main GOP type candidate, I would think he would make the runoff. Whether or not he wins all depends on voter turnout as Turner hasnt done a whole lot to keep himself in favor with most Houstonians I would think. I dont live in city limits though so I dont follow the city issues too closely.

Turner is definitely gifting Buzbee campaign ammo lately.

The completely botched handling of the no-knock drug raid and a lack of resignation from the police chief makes Turner a sitting duck.

Yep. And he'll surely add this to the list.

Other than free beer my favorite part of last night was Buzbee talking about the money spent repeatedly fixing potholes. That was Turners main selling point a few years ago.

If people vote straight ticket, Buzbee has zero chance.

Houston mayoral election is non-party. Straight ticket don't mean jack.

Buzbee is a Democrat, yes? He fundraised for Adrian Garcia and Turner when they ran against Bill King.

Bill King would like to say something about that.

No parties in Houston Mayoral Elections

So doesn't really matter if he is actually a Democrat, just that he is a better choice than Turner.

I lived in the city limits for 3 years and never actually got a chance to vote for mayor. I did get to vote against SJL twice though.

There is no more straight ticket voting in Texas anyway.

No effect on the mayoral election, but the above is fantastic news for Houston in 2020.

In 2020, Harris County is going to go democrat on everything, even without straight ticket voting.

Could not agree more 2020 will be the start of Cook County Politics in Harris County. All that flood money voted in and corruption is ripe for the taking. Give a few crumbs out and all will be good. Worked for Huey Long, works in Cook County and will work in Harris County.

Straight ticket voting is outlawed beginning with 2020 elections. A vote will have to be placed for each position on the ballet.

Oddly unsurprising endorsement here (not that I've ever heard of this organization before). How many fountains does he have in the circle drive in front of his River Oaks mansion? JMO, but sports cars always look hotter when parked in front of a nude, muscular statue.

This is a "non-partisan" race. But if Buzbee wins, I will genuinely interested to see if he seeks higher office and which party he decides to align with. There are certainly indications either way:

Trial lawyer
Unions
Veterans
Trump supporter
Trump critic
Snoop

Going to a little meet and greet for him next week. I think one of my biggest questions is what his take on this new trend of big liberal cities making it easier for bums to camp all over public property.
