Sounds like they are finally getting close to opening. Been working on that building for a long time.

Their prices are actually on the lower end for the elite places.

At least they sell plates, unlike the places trying to be "authentic" which only sell a-la-carte.

Out of curiousity, how is selling meat by the lb "trying to be authentic?" Most places that do plates aren't that good, Dickey's, Pappas, etc

Complaining about BBQ being sold by the pound is peak message board angst

am i the only one that is shocked that the guy that went to the top of the chain to discuss hot dogs is reluctant to pay $20/lb for brisket?

Been to their Brenham location several times. Great spot. Every time I pop in I ask about the progress of the Washington Ave location because I live right around the corner. Pumped to have it open soon!

Having eaten at much of the Texas Monthly top 50 I think Truth may still be my personal #1. My God that stuff is great.

You do realize that you can say "I want a slice or two of brisket and one or two ribs" and not actually order by the pound.

RIP Luthers

BBQ was mediocre, but burgers and onions rings hit the spot.

This was my go-to choice for birthday meal as a kid - Luther's for ribs and rings.

I'm kind of with the poster about the increasing price of "elite" BBQ. Yeah, Texas Monthly said you are the sheet and you serve it the way the old school hill country joints do, but you are still essentially serving a tough cut of meat that has had smoke run through it. Remember, Texas Monthly also said the best burger in Texas came from the brunch menu of a wine bar in Dallas. Take it easy on the prices because eventually even the neck-beard BBQ hipsters will think you've crossed the line.

Don't get me started on acceptable prices for cheese enchiladas.

I've been to most of the "good places" inslide Beltway 8 (Pit Room, Pinkertons, Jackson St. et. al.)

Actually I couldn't care less but he mentioned a couple of average or below places. I'm looking forward to trying Pinkerton's and Reveille in Magnolia so I can rotate them in with Captain Tom's.

BBQ is hipster now?

Some of you try way too hard to be "anti anything that might be enjoyable to many people"

Yeah, BBQ is pretty hype. Rewind 10 years and I could walk up to most of my favorite joints without tripping over IPA beer cans, corn hole boards, and lawn chairs

A lot this stuff has tasted the same for decades. Guess folks are just woke now.

I like that sides aren't an afterthought at the new school places. Truth, corkscrew, pitroom, 2M in San Antonio... all have sides that are almost as good as the bbq.
