I am looking for a quick two day trip from Houston with my husband! What's the best? We've done Austin, San Antonio, Horseshoe Bay (meh)...

I will award the best answer with a congratulatory blue star.

I hear Arkansas has some good hiking, camping and fishing, if you're into that sort of thing.

The only issue is it takes too long to travel there for two days.

What about Wimberley? Get a house on the river and either shop in town or do a winery tour.

Do you want to drive or fly? I just came back from Phoenix/Scottsdale, and it's perfect for a weekend getaway (assuming you don't mind the heat - I got lucky and it barely broke 100 while I was there).

Great spas, restaurants, art museum, and botanical garden. It's a quick ~2.5 hour flight (assuming no delays - fly Southwest and not United if that's your goal), there are lots of flights to/from per day, and you gain two hours when you get there.

Sage Hill Inn nest Kyle/Wimberley. Your room includes a really good breakfast and dinner. Very pretty and relaxing but good access to the rest of the hill country and Austin.

Horseshoe Bay is definitely the opposite of meh. That is a beautiful area.

Lake Whitney has some cool homes on it for rent. It's a beautiful lake and there are 20 foot cliffs you can jump off into the lake that are a ton of fun. It's only 30 minutes from Waco, so you could go to Magnolia if that is your cup of tea.

I would check out New Braunfels. You can get cheap (< $200/night) room in town. With Uber, you can get rides to from the river during the day and Gruene at night.

Fly to New Orleans. You can round trip 2 people for less than $400. And that is well worth avoiding a 6 hours drive back hungover.

And sitting on a flight full of other people is a better option?

I drove that hungover once. **** that bridge. I felt so bad I almost stopped in Baytown to get a hotel cuz I wasn't sure I could make it all the way back to CS.

No...no it's not. If I'm hungover, the last thing I want to do is to drive to the effing airport, deal with the TSA and all of their chit, sit at a terminal for an hour or so, pile into a plane with crying babies and fatties with body stench, and then sit in an airplane seat for an hour flight. I'd much rather hop in a car and have somebody else drive while my head stops pounding.

Wow. Driving and being driven are two completely different things. Who the hell do you expect to drive them back and forth?

Well, I usually spend 20 min of the 1 hour flight blasting out the airplane toilet. So it's almost like a private jet.

I've been driven and have taken a flight while completely hungover. Flight absolutely wins. The sooner I can get into my own bed and curl up in a ball like a little bi*** the better.

Back on topic of the thread, we did Wimberley recently with some friends. Rented a house and drank around town.

Didn't you go to a bachelor party in NOLA completely sober? God, I can't imagine what an absolute buzzkill you were to the rest of the group the entire time. Who f'ing does that? Should've kept your weird ass at home....f*ggot.

If you end up going to Lake Whitney and want to jump off the cliffs, they are on the west side of the lake next to the Walling Bend camping site.
