This isn't a list, it is a challenge. A quest.

Many I've already had and I agree with their inclusion. Some may be hard to achieve, like ordering a turkey sang or not ordering ribs and brisket at Roegel's.

Some notable (IMO) omissions - the cochinita pibil torta at Mexico Deli, the Italian sub at Mr. Hoagie's, the original Zero at Zero's, the bacon pimento cheese at Ouisie's Table, the prime rib French Dip at Houston's, the sausage and pepper sub at Nick's, the Big Daddy Special at Rajin Cajun....

Seems like if a food fetishist eats a bowl of cereal in Houston these days they need to somehow work Chris Sheperd's name into the mix.

Boy Chili's always got something to say.

He's a noteworthy food person in Houston who actually has a LOT to do with the food in Houston.

Go back to Dallas or something.

I trust this board way more than Yelp.

As for the Shepard comment, the guy did win the James Beard award, the equivalent of the Nobel Peace Prize of cooking, and if you take a look at him, he probably knows a thing or two about eating.

I'm yet to have it because I never seem to be there on Thursdays, but I hear the pastrami at Roegel's is the true star

Wow, no need to get so defensive and personal on any food-related subject. Don't think my comment had anything at all to do with you personally.

Whatever man. This isn't the first time you've messed with me and it's not the first time you've messed with me for mentioning Sheperd. I didn't take it personally, but I took it for what it was... A comment on my post about a statement I made. So I responded to it.

I don't even remember talking about Sheperd here, but that's completely bizarre that you think me making a comment about a local food celebrity is "messing with" you. Get over yourself. I'll post whatever I feel like posting on any topic and don't need your personal beef, so to speak.

Pre-strip club recommendation thread which led to a nuclear banning of several posters, this place was "the" place. Now....? It's not even a shell of its former self.

Can't speak for the listed sandwiches, but my favorite is the BLT from Cottonwood

Antone's may as well be Subway.

List is invalid w/out mention of Kenny & Ziggy's

Nielsen's is overrated. I'd rather have Schlotzky's.

Cafe Brussels is legit.

I'm a big fan of Barnaby's, but their chicken salad is not the best. Too "herby."

I like Maine-ly Lobster, but have not had the lobster roll. Only the fried clams.

Again it's not a complete list, but an ongoing series about great sandwiches. I'm sure he'll get to K&Z eventually.
