Don't live in this district, so I have not followed the race.

What's the word on the two candidates. Just listening to the radio, it seems like a lot of PAC money is getting involved with some slimey ads for both sides.

Haven't seen any ads where Crenshaw is bashing Roberts other than calling him a liar.

The recent revelations of Crenshaw's old Facebook posts have me leaning towards not voting at all. I have no problem with him calling trump an idiot, etc. the problem I have is with him originally supporting Jeb(that shows some major issues imo)

For now I still have a Crenshaw sign in the yard.

Roberts has been backing and supporting the small number of people who are trying to prevent the neighborhood bar in Cottage Grove, Down the Street, from getting its alcohol license renewed. He even went so far to write a letter supporting the non-renewal of the license. This is not his fight and is crony government at its worst and shows his character when he believes he has power. Out of all the bars in Houston it is rather comical that this laid back neighborhood bar that is mostly frequented by professionals (many of whom live in the neighborhood) from the ages of 25 to 40 is the one being targeted for non-renewal simply because a group of 5 to 10 people do not like having the bar in the neighborhood and have made up lies and false accusations to try to advance their cause.

Not registered in the district, I'm in TX-7, but I hope Crenshaw wins.

I lean very conservative. Not a fan of either at this point. In particular, I do no trust a "blank slate" political outsider whose platform is primarily that he wears an eye patch. Military service and sacrifice are honorable, but that has little bearing on policy decisions IMO.
The story isn't that [DeSantis] "couldn't win" the primary. The story is that an overwhelming majority of our population is heinously stupid. 50% of them vote for communists. 75% of the remaining 50% vote for Trump, who cant win. When the majority of the opposition party insists on voting for an opposition candidate who can't win, you get exactly the government you deserve. - Well Endowed Ag

I agree. Roberts seems to be you typical Texas conservative. Fairly conservative on most things but does the occasional head scratching thing.

Crenshaw to me is a puzzle. Does not have a job and lives with his parents. Talks about being conservative but some of the things he has said/posted are certainly not conservative values and the attacks on Trump won't win him any points. Seems to me his biggest selling point is his military service and sacrifice. It's almost like he's hoping folks will be so mesmerized by his service that they won't dig deep into who he is and what he believes.

I just can't vote for Crenshaw, so Roberts it is.

I'm in the district. It's gotten ugly. Apparently Roberts is painting Crenshaw as a closet liberal who supported Obama and Bernie and doesn't support changing Obamacare. I find that hard to believe. Crenshaw plays up the eye patch thing pretty hard. It's on every radio commercial and sign in town.

Roberts seems like the more legitimate candidate. I like that he's from the panhandle, first college grad in his family, and has made something of himself.

Roberts=suburbs
Crenshaw=city?

As far as I'm concerned thats the problem with this ridiculous ass district. I'll be voting for the democrat, Litton who at least lives in urban Houston if Roberts wins the runoff.

Interesting. What about Litton's philosophy appeals to you? Or is it simply a vote against Roberts/Crenshaw?

Nothing about his philosophy generally appeals to me beyond my generally socially liberal viewpoint.

My problem is the district. This is a farce...

We have been represented for years in central Houston by a rep from Kingwood. Roberts has represented Cypress in the state legislature. I cant really say I've been too displeased by Poe, but I have no desire to have a conservative representative from Cypress, Spring/Klein, Humble, Kingwood (or hell, even Huffman is in the same district). They have shown me that they are going to get involved in urban politics on the side I dont agree with, or worse not fight for things within the urban part of the district because of the views of suburban constituents. Roberts siding with a handful of NIMBYs against a neighborhood bar in a super dense neighborhood is a perfect example. I'll vote for Crenshaw, if not him then Litton.

Jackson-Lee's district is arguably the one that actually is the most reasonable of the three.

I'm an outerlooper, but doesn't her district essentially capture most of her own people? I'm well aware of her nonsense . . .

Yup. Just about every majority black neighborhood was crammed into one district so that their vote won't impact races in the other districts. Every few months someone comes on here complaining "how on earth is she elected?" The people who drew the maps purposely want her elected. thats why.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Will definitely vote for Crenshaw.

First, I find it amusing that a pirate is running against a guy named Roberts. I keep wanting to vote for the Dread Pirate Roberts.

Although I think that either candidate would represent district 2 well, I think Roberts has more ability to get the local, state, and federal entities working together on flood control initiatives, including the proposed 3rd reservoir, management of Lake Conroe, Lake Houston, and the SJRA, and proper preventive maintenance on our critical waterways.

Litton has said virtually nothing on flood control, which is by FAR the most important economic issue facing greater Houston.

I will be voting for Roberts (today, actually). His family is friends with my family, and although I do not agree with all of his positions, I know who he is, and that he is a man of integrity.

As far as Crenshaw supporting Jeb, I did not know that. It makes me like him more. Jeb was dead on arrival because he refused to see things in black and white, specifically immigration. Can't win anything trying to be a peacemaker, unfortunately. The lemmings won't have it.

See you have fallen for Roberts lies, Crenshaw does NOT live with his parents.

His not having a job is a bit of timing. Graduated from Harvard, Harvey happened he volunteered with Team Rubicon, and during that time is when Poe announced his retirement, so he kicked off his campaign.

It can be argued that Roberts hasn't done much for employment other than being an admin for his brothers law firm

We got a long handwritten note from a friend of ours who is a local elected official asking us to vote for Kevin Roberts and gave us Roberts' cell phone number in case we had any questions or concerns.

When we got that, my wife and I looked at each other and said, "Wow. Roberts must be in trouble in this race."
