I am just going to be walking my kid in. Where is a good place to park if I am just going to be there for an hour at most?

Parking garage next to terminal.

When I'm doing the same with my son, I always park on the first floor of the new garage. It's the first one/turn on the left as you pass through the ticket dispenser. The new garage is better organized (no more dead-end aisles), better lit, and the elevators to the sky bridge are much faster than in the old garage. Also, the skybridge puts you right at the Southwest tickets counters (assuming that's what he's flying).

Will you be walking him back to the gate? If so, you will need an escort pass. You don't have to wait in the full-service line (if it's long) to get one; you can ask one of the agents checking bags at the self-service counter to print it.

I think just to the Southwest ticket area. This is a group trip.

Is there a name for the new garage? Will we be able to walk to the SW area or will we still have to shuttle?

Thanks for all the help. I am more familiar with IAH and flying by myself. The "just walking in" deal is new for me.

Just park right outside the front door. Leave your flashers on so they will know you're coming right back.

Why not, it's worked fine for me every time I've gone in to pick up family members

Because he's not picking someone up...he's checking them in and maybe going to the gate with them.

Edit: an hour at most is how long he said he would be inside.

I like going to the drop off area for pickups.

A lot has changed since you were last at the airport on September 10, 2001.

I would for sure leave your vehicle unattended at the airport.

It has a name - it's a color. The blue garage, maybe?

It's literally the first left hand turn after you pass through the parking ticket dispensers. You can't miss it, but if you do, the second left hand turn takes you to the upper levels of the same parking garage (the first left turn takes you to the first floor).

You can walk to the ticket area. As I said above, you take the elevator to the skybridge that takes you to the terminal. Ride the escalator down and you get off right at the SW ticket counters.

Just park on the 4th level of the new garage, that's where the skybridge ends anyway. Hardly anybody up there, easy walk in and out.

Just remember that the white zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no stopping in the red zone...or maybe it's the other way around...

I started to suggest that, too, but I couldn't remember what floor the new skybridge is on. I rarely ever go past the first floor - don't mind taking the elevators in the new garage (the ones in the old garage are terrible, and I avoided them at all costs).

We watched that movie with my 12 yo stepson this weekend. Still hilarious after 35 years.
