What pool did you cruise in your youth?

I didn't grow up in Houston but my grandparents always lived here so we made many summer trips over to visit. This was the pool we frequented every summer.

I learned how to swim at Sharpstown & Alief Community Centers. We eventually moved out to FBISD and I swam in the neighborhood pool in Dover (6 & Bissonet). Then, of course, we'd go to Adventure Bay & Waterworld. All the hot spots as a kid.

We had a couple neighborhood pools where I grew up so I spent more time there but my dad took us to the TC Jester pool a couple times. There were diving platforms that were much taller than the normal high dive and a girl drowned the first time we went there.

I think my mom used Fame City season passes as baby sitting multiple summers. Would just drop us off.

Maplewood pool here too! Home to lots of great summer birthday parties... plenty of football games in that big field next to it too

i had friends in the rich neighborhood. i'd ride my bike and meet them at the country club and we'd put stuff on their parent's tab.

My uncle went off the 10 meter platform at the Shamrock Hilton pool when he was about 5 years old. Scared my grandmother half to death.

I don't know where that club was, but I'm pretty sure it might be the facility on the NW corner of Braeswood and S Rice. Map says that's the JCC, but I'm curious if it wasn't purchased since the 90s. Even looks like the main pool got filled in based on the aerial.


The JCC does own it now, but that's a more recent development. It was a club prior.

The West U pool has a Princes. No beer though.

At Maplewood, you just drag in a cooler and order La Fresca.

Didn't live in Houston...but spent a lot of time here in the summer with family. There was some neighborhood pool we went to in 77024...but I have no idea what it was...

Also Maplewood. Was a lifeguard.

Did you know the Association goes by "Maplewood South-North"?
Those petty lolpoor southerners...so sad.

Also JCC: Guess I had a goypool and a jewpool, eh?
