My sister is visiting from outside the country, and I want to take her to breakfast tomorrow. She is staying near the Galleria, and my church is in The Heights. I don't mind making her drive, so either neighborhood would be good.

Lots of good options in galleria/uptown. Dish Society is solid, their brisket and eggs and pork belly hash are really good at breakfast. Flo Paris is excellent for crepes/eggs/pastries and coffee. Fountainview Cafe for classic American breakfast fare, and undisputed best pancakes in town. Adair Kitchen is solid.

Dish Society is a place that you feel should be better than it is. At some point you realize the food just isn't that good.

Fountainview Cafe is great for an old school grill. If there is a better pancake in town, I haven't found it. Really, the only competition I've found is at Buttercream in Napa.

Adair is generally good, but for some reason they can't figure out how to properly toast bread.

Granted neither is a trendy fufu place, but I love Cracker Barrel's and Corner Bakery's.

My wife reminded me about Buffalo Grill and Pecan Grill. Never been to Pecan Grill but Buffalo Grill is not bad. I think they are a notch below Fountainview Cafe, but they certainly have some selling points.
