I ate the Firehouse burger at Lankford Grocery Saturday and it didn't really phase me. What other spicy foods are there around town?

I too wasn't really phased by Lankford's firehouse burger.
Now. Their burger with mac and cheese and an egg. That put a hurtin on me.

One of the other burger places does a spice challenge that sounds hard. I think it might be bernie's

Spiciest food I've had has Asian food, whether it was when we were dumb and ordered 'Pet Mok' from Golden Room (Thai) or trying to eat the jalapenos that come w/ Pho.

While not the spiciest, the Salsa Atomica at El Tiempo has some amazing flavor.

Thai hot at Thai Gourmet, depending on the batch of peppers they are using that day.

IDK, some are fine but there are some jalapenos at authentic places that are way too freaking hot.

First time I took a hot Vietnamese coworker to lunch 10 years ago I ate a couple bites or a jalapeno, chugged my whole can of sprite and then sweated my ass off trying to get the waitress' attention for some water. Thought I would never get to hit it since I couldn't handle the spice but now she's drumgirl.

Also, if you handle hot peppers be sure to wash your hands well before getting on the ferris wheel, otherwise you'll be in for a bad evening.

Taco Caliente food truck had some of the hottest sauce I've had the other day. Every day its a little different. Some days its spicy, other days I can barely even use it.

Little Bitty Burger Barn is a POS these days. Not even sure it is still open.

The original owner sold and moved out of Houston, IIRC. I went downhill fast after that. We ate a good 2-4 times after the sale, always hoping they'd pick it back up, but never did. Haven't been back since.

Thai-die!!!!

Tastes so good, you don't notice you now have only tiny tongue remnants, until it's time to brush.

I eat a lotta hot, but Thai.....

This. It used to be so solid, but now it's not that good and takes forever. Too bad

Thai cottage 5 is about a Thai Gourmet medium-hot.

Love me some Thai food.

As others have mentioned, Thai Gourmet is one of the best in Houston and most authentic spice level... not as toned down for Americans.

Also give this place a try... my hair was drenched with spice level 4 (out of 5):

try Pepper Twins on West Gray. Get the pepper twins chicken (or steak). They load it up with two types of chili peppers from China. Probably one of the spiciest things I've eaten recently. numbed my tongue

it's been a few years but at Red Lion Pub, I had the Wednesday night vindaloo at the highest spice level. I couldn't finish it because it was so spicy. Mouth on fire, beads of sweat, and runny nose.
