I don't think they redo valuations every year. I've only seen it like every third year.

We recently had our home appraised since we refinanced. Is that plus photos of said home decent enough to protest our valuation? It is probably 30m less than what DCAD will value our L Streets home.

On the Tarrant website, you have to log in to your account to see your value notice. Looking on the public side just has $0s.

I protested last year and won based on purchase price. Somehow my house added 70K in value in a year without me doing a single thing except pool repairs.

I hate this system.

Might as well tax us on unrealized gains for our equity holdings.

Flat as well, but wasn't re-assessed. Parents rental in the same neighborhood and brothers house down the street remained flat. Other brother up in Plano got a 10% hike.

My understanding has always been a hard no. They are exclusive of each other.

It's actually a benefit to your future purchaser if you fight it and lower it, as well as to yourself. DCAD values mean nothing wrt actual market values.

What basis do you use to fight/argue the increase? Despite sales prices and tax value being separate, if sales prices are going up everywhere, isn't the value increasing, even if it is unrealized profit?

Values have to be "equitable" so your best bet is to try and find very similar homes in your immediate area that are appraised at lower values and use those comps
