We moved into a house in Plano at the beginning of 2019 and switched to Spectrum for internet. We had AT&T previously, but that isn't available at our current address. We have the "Internet Ultra" service (400 Mbps) and our introductory rate was great at $45/month for the first year. As expected, after that first year it went up to $60/month. Now one year after that, I see it is going up to $75/month. I know it is not uncommon for these companies to raise their rates over time, but a 66% increase in two years seems a little ridiculous. However, a brief online search shows that I may not be able to do much better than that for a comparable plan. Is this about the right price for that service, and have I just been getting a great deal for the past two years? Does anyone have a provider that they recommend that can do better? I know that if I call and threaten to switch to another provider that they might lower the price for a short time again, but I hate having to do that every time. Also not sure it's even worth the headache of switching everything if I can't do much better. TIA for any recommendations.

Call and tell them you're canceling after every promo ends. Without fail they will give you another promo rate. Throw in these hard covid times making cuts necessary for an even better deal.

Just checked my bill. I pay 118 for dtv and 40 for internet.

AT&T Fiber 1000 Mbps for $60 includes HBO Max. I've been pretty happy with it. I think it goes up to $70 or $80 after year one.

I mean spectrum doesn't suck. I hate giving att money as they are horrible to work with. I don't care how big her cans are.

If you're in Plano and ATT isn't available, sounds like you're in former Verizon (now Frontier) territory. Can you get FIOS?

happy with spectrum... i didn't have any luck with the threaten to cancel... so I canceled... went with at&t for 30 days no contract... and after that you qualify for new customer deals with spectrum.

Were you talking to the cancellation/retention people? If you were just talking to a normal rep they wont help you. You have go come in guns blazing to the cancellation folks.

I've never had success with Spectrum's regular customer care, or retention specialists. I'm pretty sure they know we don't have other options besides slow/unreliable U-verse.

To the OP, I pay $74.99 for 200 Mbps down/10 up. It was $46.99 in 2016.

Spectrum's service/reliability is great. We unfortunately don't have other options besides U-verse. I may try all out canceling as mentioned above though, to get a better rate.

My vote is spectrum. No issues at all.

I'm in the same boat, we must live close. My only options are U-Verse and Spectrum. U-Verse is 1/4 the speed of Spectrum AND has a data cap. So, my only option is Spectrum, until 5G-in-home becomes available and cheaper. Like you, when I first had Spectrum, I was paying something like $50 after tax per month, it creeps up ~$4 a month every 6 months.

I dropped Spectrum cable a couple of months ago, when I called to cancel it they volunteered to drop my internet (which I was keeping) from $75 to $55 for a year. As mentioned above, the cancellation department is where the power lies.

I did same thing, they dropped me to 55/month for a year and speed went up by 2x
