Looking to begin building a relationship with a CPA as my personal taxes become more complex. We added a rental property this year and I do a decent bit of trading. Turbotax could likely handle our situation as it has in the past, but I'm beginning to develop tax related questions Id like to discuss with someone. Any recommendations?

I use Kevin Lawson CPAs. Reasonably priced and I can call and talk to them whenever I want.

Many CPAs charge by the hour or only prepare taxes. Kevin's philosophy is that he wants to talk throughout the year when you still have time to impact your tax burden.

If he doesn't charge by the hour, how does he charge?

It's a flat fee per year. It's comparable to what folks charge that just do taxes.
