Waters downtown will be the best option.

There are a few places that get lower end gulf oysters like J&J or Flying Fish.

Haven't been to lone star in 20+ yrs but I would probably avoid them. When the majority of the oyster section of menu talks about baking them with stuff on them....

Not to hijack the thread, but my wife and I are looking for a nice restaurant in downtown fort Worth later this month for a special celebration. Is Waters worth it for non-oyster seafood? I love seafood, but gravitate towards lots of other stuff before oysters.

If not, where else should we go?

If looking for just seafood, then yes. Top notch. If you want a little more variety then yeah look towards Grace, Capital Grille, other steakhouses. Eddie Vs is another good option for steak/seafood. The bananas foster there is a must.

JJ's Oyster Bar right off 7th by the museum is great. Lots of other good food, including crawfish when the time comes. Small hole in the wall place that's been there for 30 years at least.

Also second pacific table for other seafood. Really like that place and they have an awesome grilled artichoke we got last time as an appy.
