I guess he didn't think they could make the murder charge stick.

She had 20+ broken bones. The question wasn't going to be the finding of guilt. It was going to be whether the jury would Lynch the guy in the courtroom or not.

Obviously, it wasn't a slam dunk or they wouldn't have accepted the plea.

It's Dallas. 91 percent of all cases get pled out.

Is that % different from other counties, and how is this an example of "Cruezot strikes again"?

He is soft on crime. Unless it's a white police officer, he does not care.

It should bother you that violent felons are receiving plea bargains for probation in Dallas.

Do you have examples of plea bargains for probation for violent criminals?

Because the story you linked says the jury can still sentence the guy to life in prison. The same jury you said would be debating whether to lynch the guy or not. So if that's the case seems like this guy should be getting a life sentence regardless, right?

Too many to count. Up until Craig Watkins was DA, they gave probation to some for murder. Assaulting a police officer in Dallas County is automatic probation.

Even if he gets a life sentence he can be granted parole.

Eligible for parole in 30. With good time that could be 15 years.
