Came here to say Heim. Always give it a roll when someone is in the hospital. Biggest problem is your wife will be pissed when you walk back into her room smelling of that sweet sweet smoke smoke.

How far is Rodeo Goat from there?

Short Uber for sure right?

Also could take a short Uber to torchys or Jason's on rosedale & forest park

Probably 10 mins by Uber to West 7th where you'll have tons of options. Some really good stuff coming in on University as well, which would be maybe 5 mins.

Bacon Burnt ends lacked flavor
Beans very good

Dirty Martinis damn good and hopefully help me sleep on that gd convertible chair/bed

Lili's has a great menu and a lovely atmosphere. Definitely can't go wrong with Heim or Salsa Limon for something more casual.

Completely forgot about lili's. Very good. Love the Gorgonzola burger

Thanks for all the recs. Unfortunately I'll have plenty of chances to check them out. Lived on west 7th until the apartments got too expensive at the beginning of the crazy growth. Chimys margaritas and the trinity trail are now the only good things about the area. Then rented a house in Fairmount until I got old and married and bought in the burbs. Most of the places on Magnolia now weren't there 10 years ago.

I'm so sorry that your wife is in the hospital again. Is she going to be ok?

I work off magnolia. If you need dinner brought to you guys, just ask, be more than happy to bring some food to you. What floor in Baylor? I know some nurses that work onc & the blood transplant floor.

I forgot about Lili's as well. I haven't been to Spice on Magnolia but heard it's good.

Ooh I just remembered Canon Chinese. I don't think it's walking distance from the hospital, but a short drive. Sooo good!

Great Harvest Bread Company also worth the walk.

Thanks for all the recs and kind words. Had twins at the beginning of the year and wife has been in and out with complications ever since. Heading home again for a bit, but have come back to have a kidney removed in the next week or two.

Met David Shaw, owner of Shaw's and half owner of Lazy Moose. Nice guy. Said he's thinking about selling Shaw's. Said the biggest challenge is that the area is severely limited by lack of parking.

Never met mr Shaw. Seen him the couple times we've been there. In all honesty the place isn't that good. If I'm going to have a burger I'm going to dutches, lilis, Fred's, or old neighborhood grill. Yes the parking around there sucks. You couldn't pay me enough to live near magnolia. Similar to lower Greenville
