LBJNOW foe Bob Hall SD2 won his primary and LBJNOW ally Jason Villalba HD114 lost his. Guess we're stuck.

Our "leaders" are idiots. Instead of the 5-2-2-5 format, they are now doing away with one of the managed lanes and going 6-1-1-6. Technically, I guess if you are not going with a toll option then there really isnt a reason to have managed lanes anyways and you might as well move them over to the unmanaged side. While we are at it, lets just forget about the frontage lanes and make those more highway lanes, 8-1-1-8, because that is apparently the thinking in Austin, and pretty much everywhere right now, just build more lanes, instead of figure out ways to manage it and shift it elsewhere.

Cautiously optimistic. Would have liked to see the original 5+2 concept but maybe if the 6+1 gets approved and down the road the idoits in Austin see how benificial more managed toll lanes are, they can convert it over to the original 5+2. If they can only get 5 free lanes on this project, then I hope the transportation engineers with the winning bidder can convince them that instead of 1 managed toll lane in each direction, that they adopt the current setup used on 35E and have two managed lanes that switch direction depending on the traffic. It would work even better in this situation because there is a sizable gap between traffic flows in the morning and evening rush hours.

Being told that 2 toll lanes still a possibility, but not clear on the odds. McGough got a call from a lobbyist connected to Dan Patrick ask/telling him to quiet down, so we are making an impact.

It's nice and all but the traffic won't be alleviated by the time it's built. Just enough extra lanes to keep the flow like it is right now

Not sure I agree, especially if we can get 2 express lanes. Look at LBJ between 75 and 35. HUGE improvement.

Some improvements coming:

Quote:

Texas Transportation Commission members unanimously approved last week the advancement of the long-awaited LBJ East construction project that would add one lane in each direction on the highway between U.S. Highway 75 and I-30, add continuous frontage roads and revamp the toll lanes.

The 11-mile, $1.6-billion project is estimated to be complete in late 2024 if it stays on track.
