My hospital went from 26 Covid patients on Wednesday to 39 on Friday. That's just admitted patients. Not the ones we sent home. Please be careful.
I mean, there's also the chance you might not.RDV-1992 said:
Some day, you'll be able to look back on this pandemic, and say, "I was one of the 99.96% of people that survived!"
So I just reread this...how does being prepared have anything to do with hospital capacity?wargograw said:
You've had three months of people staying home so you could prepare. Is the hospital not prepared?
I talked to one of my clients today, deals with alot of "youngs". She said she's seen a big spike the last 2 weeks. I said what do you see as the "common thread"? She said they're all hanging out together, partying and protesting. Pretty mild flu-like symptoms for most, and going to the crapper. One got her Mom sick, and she's not doing as well though.Frozen Concoction said:
This is really unfortunate. Wilco hospitalization number is currently 11, so at least we're good there. I wonder what's going on in Travis? I'm curious to see who's testing positive... younger people?
Taking into account incubation time and lag time in testing we're seeing increases from Memorial Day and opening up.docb said:
Probably related to all the protesters. City of Austin doesn't seem to mind them not social distancing.
The medical experts told us we had to shut down for two weeks so that we could prevent the hospitals from being overrun and so that they could prepare for the spike. Don't get mad at me for conflating the two when that was the argument that they gave us. Generously, we gave them 2+ months instead of 2 weeks. If they're still worried, then I respectfully wonder what they've been doing.fig96 said:So I just reread this...how does being prepared have anything to do with hospital capacity?wargograw said:

I asked a question as I didn't see the correlation, not sure how that equates to getting mad at you. Still not sure what a specific hospital can do to get prepared to be honest, if they're over capacity they're over capacity.wargograw said:The medical experts told us we had to shut down for two weeks so that we could prevent the hospitals from being overrun and so that they could prepare for the spike. I feel like it's not that hard to at least make an effort towards social distancing and do little things like wear a mask at the grocery store, Target, etc.
