Domain area, Arboretum, Cedar Park/lakeline area, etc. birthday coming up. Had Austin land and cattle in the past, which I really liked, but it's a bit out of the way now. Suggestions?
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

Perry's. I prefer cooking my own but I had one of the best steaks at one of the Houston area locations.

+1 for Fleming's -- as I've never had a steak or anything that wasnt excellent at the Domain location.

Is Steiner Ranch Steakhouse too far? It is really good as well.

Fleming's at the Domain easy choice. Ask for Curtis as your waiter when you make your reservation. The new Perry's is fine, but this location of Fleming's is really good compared to others I have tried.

I live in Steiner. Other than having a great view, the steaks don't cut it. I gave up asking them what "premium beef" means it's not prime

My wife and I go to Roaring Fork every year for our anniversary. I've never had an issue with anything there.

Eddie V's no doubt. Truluck's is a close second. Perry third.

Roaring Fork is good and, though not a steak house, they make a really good, wood-grilled steak.

Forgot about Eddie V's -- also very good.

I haven't been yet... But hear great things about the Wed night smoked ribeye at John Brotherton's Liberty BBQ in Round Rock.

Both great, but the query was North Austin. Those aren't even north downtown Austin.

Not north north but at least north of downtown, I've never not loved the filet at Tiny Boxwoods.

Jeffreys is north of "downtown" and it is the best steak in the city!

Austin Land and Cattle is the most underrated steakhouse in the city and reasonably priced. It is also just North of downtown.
