I haven't been to the dentist in many years. Up until recently, I hadn't been to a doctor period in many years, but after my mom's passing, I've become increasingly paranoid about EVERYTHING, health wise. Anytime I feel a pain somewhere, it's probably cancer.

Anyways, I am terrified of going to the dentist because I fear what they may find, but I have been feeling a slight pain in one of my teeth recently, so naturally I assume I have caught Ebola-Cancer-AIDS in my mouth. I can't ignore it anymore though, so need to bite the bullet so to speak and at least go get checked up on.

I'm in the Central Austin area but willing to go to the right place anywhere in the Austin area, I want an honest dentist who isn't going to screw me over with a bunch of **** I don't need and put me thousands of dollars in the hole.

I know how you feel. I was fearing the worst after my first appointment in 8 years, and it just took extra long to clean, but everything was fine.

I went to a place up here in Pflugerville, but it was awesome because even before they start cleaning, they already called my insurance company and had me sign a document saying

a.) that everything was covered 100%

b.) that there were some extra things that would help protect my teeth, that were not covered that they recommended. It was some kind of flouride sealant. It ended up costing me about $30 bucks out of pocket...a fee that they disclosed before service was performed.

It was Pflugerville Modern Dentistry...but im not sure you need to come all the way up here to find another similar experience.

So, I chose one of the dentists here on this list way back when I made the OP and they have been awesome. Loved the care I've received so far.

I've noticed some strange white "lesions" I guess in my left cheek, where I used to dip, and am very concerned about it, so I wanted to make an appointment. Well, thanks to zero notice beforehand from my employer, as of six days ago, I have a new dental insurance company! And the person I was seeing under my old insurance provider is now no longer in-network as of six days ago.

So I guess I need a new dentist, just in time for me to be worried I have oral cancer. Wonderful.

Did you find something?

You may want to check out Dr. Michael J Farst in Cedar Park. He is a good guy and doesn't take you to the cleaners. My family has used him for years across 4 generations of folks that needed teeth care.
