We are thinking about taking our 4 year old tomorrow night. Has anyone been recently? Any thoughts/advice?

They usually bail at the first cold front. They head south. This is the second front, so I'd guess they are gone already.

I've seen them flying twice this week. Not as many as summer, but not completely gone.

They are not flying above me at all. Two things:

In summer they seem to fly out on a 180 degree plan. Or sort of. Mostly east but a slight variation of degree per day. So a get a few, then more then a lot then they taper down

It's seems a minority stay late or all year. So it's not all or bust. I'd guess temperature variations.

FYI tje McNeil bridge probably has more bats then Austin. Just terrible viewing options.

Urban rooftop bar is actually a good spot to watch the Mcneil bats from.

Yesterday wife was driving up 35 and she said the bats split and went in two different directions. Notable because as Bott says, they generally all flow out and fly to the east.

Downtown RR right off 35. The place kinda sucks, but would be a good spot to watch.

It's in Pflugerock.

Yes it's on the top floor of an office building. Really pretty cool spot for a drink, they have really good cocktails.

I described the sunset as exactly like the oasis but instead of the lake you have i35.

Saw a ton of bats at sunset in RR Wednesday.
