I'm expecting the appraisal to go up 10% next year and the year after. So that's about 500-600 dollars more a month since we bought the house.

At some point in the next year or so we'll have a come to Jesus meeting and decide if it's worth sticking around the Austin area.

My Appraised value is up 156% since 2013. That is with annual protest. Assessed value up 33% for same period. It ain't going down.

From my view in mortgage and living in Round Rock the increase in price point for housing in Austin has forced values in surrounding cities up the last few years. I've had four 10% increases in a row and expect a fifth.

Not much better here in Williamson County. Hell, if you're in a MUD district here, it's probably some of the highest rates in the state.

It's a killer. I'm getting pretty tired of it.

It's crazy that 8 years ago I struggled to appraise my home for the amount I owed...now it's appraised more than 2x that same amount.

Retiring here seems less and less likely, but this is a Texas problem, not just an Austin problem.

Appraisal on new construction in CP up about 11% over purchase price from a year ago, we'll see what it comes down to after protest.
