Shot in the dark, but if anyone has insight into the most efficient/affordable water softener options in the area, I'd greatly appreciate feedback. Previous owners rented from Culligan, we've spoken with Sweetwater, and have looked at buying from Home Depot.

If you happen to use a water softener, what criteria did you use to make your decision? Thanks!

I'm not an expert on water softeners but here is the info I got back.

My gf got hers through Discount Water Softener Co. for just under $2K. She tried to go through Lowe's and Home Depot but they were trying to charge around $7K.

Edit: Can't get the link to work. Google should find it.

Thanks, man. I ordered one from HD (around $500) and we're installing this weekend (or next). I had the same experience with some options as your lady friend... Several companies charge an arm and a leg for essentially the same equipment/set up. If the HD softener fails, we'll just role without one for awhile.
