So I turn the big 4 O this Friday and my girl is taking me out for dinner. I want to try a new place but I don't go out to eat too often. Price isn't a concern and here's what I like.

Oysters - Been to Perla's & Clarks
Steak - Been to Eddie V's, McCormicks and Schmicks, Eddie V's, Austin Cattle Co, Perry's, Trulucks
Sushi - Tomo is my favorite but not really wanting sushi

Here's what I don't care for....Tapas type restaurants. I want to eat a meal.

What are some of your favorites???

I forgot about this place! I meant to eat there when they first opened but didn't get a chance to.

The wife and I had a really nice meal at Swift's Attic back in December... tasty food, strong cocktails, and attentive service.

Mongers it is but I'm definitely gonna try Red Ash soon! I completely forgot about mongers. I wanted to go there when it first opened but never got around to it! Thanks for the suggestions!

Red ash was great. The burrata (not a common reco) was incredible. Best I've had the way it was presented. I'd go back there for a drink and that app alone. My friends love the meatballs too.

Our pasta main course was off menu and great.

I think Patrizi's is my favorite restaurant in Austin, weather permitting.

Mongers was really good!
Arrowhead Cabernet - I'm just now starting to appreciate wine & really enjoyed this one.
oysters - I thought they were excellent. The quality reminded me of Clark's selection.
crab cake - was good but not the best I've had.
Tuna entree - Damn! This was my favorite part of the meal! They coupled it with potatoes so I was curious how it would go together.
Overall it was one of the best meals I've had here in Austin! Thanks for all the recommendations! I'm gonna have to try the others next!

Glad you liked it! They aren't usually on folks top 10 lists or perhaps bc they are on the east side.

A friend recommended Licha's Cantina on E. Sixth.
It's interior Mexican and very good. We went for brunch today, wife had cabrito barbacoa and I had a huarache. Brunch is limited but we'll definitely go back for dinner. Cool vibe, lot's of eastside locals (yea, I know) but a good Mexican cumbia-heavy music playlist.
