Looking for recommendations for a Benihana type or teppanyaki style restaurant in the Austin or San Antonio area. Would prefer south Austin...but willing to travel.

i live up north, so those are the only ones i know. There's Tokyo Steakhouse in RR and Nagoya in N. Austin/Cedar park

those are the only ones I've been to.

There's also Kobe, but i've not been there.

i'm sure there's probably several down south.

I'm assuming you are looking for the grill experience. I don't think there are any in South Austin. They all seem to be in the 183 North Corridor for some reason...

I googled Teppanyaki Austin and besides some of those mentioned is Lavaca Teppan downtown. Maybe one in San Marcos?

Find a Korean BBQ instead much better than Benihana type crap. though I'm not sure there's any that's worth a damn in Austin. So instead, head to Houston. Drive to Spring Branch. Along Long Point there will be any number of great Korean BBQ. Profit.

Korea house on Anderson for Korean. Much better food but I'm assuming the op has his reasons for wanting what he wants.

I'm assuming all Kobe places are part of the same chain? We use to go to one in Spring when I worked down there years ago that was good.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have always wanted to go to Benihana, and EVERYONE I have talked to says the food is just ok, however, the show is good.....I am wanting the show experience.

Grew up in Spring Branch...was born at Spring Branch Hospital in a time long, long ago. Beef and Bun BBQ was always the bomb. Western Kitchen and Wagon Wheel were always favorites also.

Have been to Samurai of Tokyo in Wichita Falls several times. Quite a picture of a Mexican dude cooking Japanese food for a bunch of white people.
