Any woodworkers here have a scrap piece of maple they can let go (or sell me)? Or is there a place you can recommend in town that might have something smaller than a whole sheet? We are needing a piece to test some stain colors against.

Theres a newish fancy wood store in College Station now.

I haven't been there myself but a buddy of mine picked out a piece of wood to be built into a custom bass guitar. He was happy.

Are you looking for a bit of maple plywood? How big? I can check the scrap bin.

Ive got some if you wanna holler at me.. but you can buy it at mccoys... soft maple.. which is still pretty hard. but...

doubt any local mill would have maple.. its not much of a local tree... mostly they have oak... lots of oak... tons of oak.. and mesquite, pecan, elm, cedar.. ash... hackberry... honeylocust... beech....

Hank and his wife are nice peeps at Tekton. Great slab, raw material and finished product selection at their showroom/warehouse.
