Ive had chili at Ozona and World of Beer recently. Both very good. I hear good things about Harvey Washbangers chili, but haven't tried it yet.

Chili is like BBQ and hamburgers around here. Everybody has their preferences and what they consider the best in town. For me, I like the chili (no beans) at Texas Roadhouse. And for something a little bit different (no beans but definitely not classic 'competition' chili), the Tasmanian chili at Outback is very good (and spicy).

I enjoy C&Js chili. It's not a mainstay on the menu but they bring it back for the cold months.

The ICS defines Traditional Red Chili as "any kind of meat, or combination of meats, cooked with red chili peppers, various spices, and other ingredients. Beans and non-vegetable fillers such as rice and pasta are not allowed."

Good to hear. I thought they closed. Maybe that was just a temporary thing. Thank you.

Besides my own, which came out great tonight, I have only really liked Roadhouse as well. Not great but will do.

I do put beans in my chili but I like it and that's all that matters to me. Can't taste them anyway and have considered mashing them to combine better in the sauce.

The next paragraph:

If that sounds a bit uptight, the ICS's Homestyle Chili competition defines chili as: "any kind of meat, or combination of meats, and/or vegetables cooked with beans, chili peppers, various spices, and other ingredients. Homestyle chili may be any color." However, it does specify that "Beans are required," so bean lovers, enjoy!

I just had a massive coronary event from reading that. But hey, you only live once, so I'll definitely give it a shot! Sounds like something you need to slide into a nice extra large pair of sweatpants after eating, right up my alley

Would beans not be considered, "and other ingredients?"
