Howdy,

I'm a recent high school graduate living College Station for the next few years, and I'm looking for full-time work! In high school I decided to not pursue college and instead start my career in the trades. I'm hoping to land an apprenticeship in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or construction.

I currently live with my brother and plan to do so for the next 3 years as he is a student @ TAMU. My parents are also both Aggies. Here are a few of my qualifications:

Eagle Scout
A/B student in high school, scoring very high in science and math
Knowledge of basic tools
Clean record and driving record
Fast Learner ready for immediate work
In good physical shape

If you know of someone in College Station needing someone to "train up", I'm your guy. Please email me at aggiewalters@gmail.com
Thanks and GigEm!

Good thread, please keep suggestions coming. Have a relative looking to make a career change and he's been looking at trades despite being concerned over a pay cut to do so.

I would say that the cities and the university to maybe a lesser extent provide good job security especially in this non-recession that we are going through

Go to just about any plumbing, electrical, HVAC company in town and you will be able to get in board as long as you show up on time, work hard and learn.

Reach out to Kerr Surveying. Surveying has been a very rewarding career for me and they have a great group over there. Not sure if they are hiring right now, but worth looking into. Multiple Eagle Scouts working there, as well

Britt Rice Electric is a long-time local company that hires & trains interns.

I've known several of their employees who have gone on to bigger things afterwards, as well.

Don't know how the current work environment is, tho.

Hello everyone!

Thank you for all of the recommendations. I've applied to most/all of the recommended companies and I am still waiting on some calls back.

With so many people living in the B/CS area, it's still very difficult to find a job in the trades. So, please keep the companies coming! Many other people are using this forum to search for jobs as well and I'm sure they would appreciate that.

Thanks once again everyone. Have a blessed day.
