From the forums I've read it's poor design. Wiring gets crimped when you open/close the door
When ours died we bought a countertop ice maker for under $100. I will never buy another fridge with it built in. Good part is we can take it camping with us.
Samsung is the worst ice maker ever made. I had mine repaired three times and replaced once. It lasted a few weeks each time and then died. Would never buy a Samsung refrigerator again.

Does it tie into your water line or do you have to fill it by hand?

I would recommend Buddy's Appliance. When we moved into our house, the ice maker was having issues. Buddy came out and did a great job of figuring out the problem and getting us an affordable solution.
