He had a great run in his prime. Was a great builder of programs too. In a world of thousands of head coaches that have come through he's one of the few that can claim a state championship.

Can BISD actually get a solid coach who can win and build a program? All the talent in this town and no football prowess

They are playing in 6A so they will always get redistricting to Houston, Austin, or Killeen. Little harder than the 5A schools compete in and around the rural area. That said, Bryan did have an All-American this year. Not sure who the last one was in this community. Bryan does well for the districts they are thrown in.

So make an excuse because they're 6A? Hell they didn't win when they were 5A

Does CSHS accept transfers? If yes, then no. If no, then yes.

Congrats to Coach Ross Rogers on a great career.

He has coached and impacted countless number of kids during his time at Consol and Bryan HS.

His program at Consol from the late 80's to mid 90's was at the time one of the best programs in the State.
They accomplished feats that have since been duplicated and far surpassed but at the time had never been done before in Texas HS Football.

As a Bryan resident and graduate of Bryan High School I hope the leaders in our district see this change has an opportunity. For years we have toiled in mediocrity. It's time to find someone to unlock the talent in this town. Hopefully we can find leader that can motivate this community like we have never seen before. Winning creates excitement and that excitement can lead to success and not just on the football field.

Seems like Just yesterday 2012 ? that the Tex Ag source was on here posting that Bryan was hiring him long before it broke on any other news source .

Great man and coach. He won his state championship back before the UIL expanded the playoffs to crown 12 state champions and allow losing records into the playoffs.

Ross will be missed.

If BISD converted Rudder into the district 9th & 10th campus and BHS into the 11th & 12th campus, Bryan would become a beast of a program. There would be coaches taking pay cuts to come lead the Vikings to Jerryworld.

To my knowledge, estimated attendance at Rudder is roughly 87% of capacity (1,700 / 1,944) and BHS is around 87% of capacity (2,430 / 2,800). In my experience in BISD I believe that Bryan's 9th-10th grade class sizes are typically larger than 11th-12th classes. Allocating a larger group of students to the smaller Rudder campus could potentially cause issue without an increase in available capacity.

We have the talent in Bryan to complete at the 6A level if we can keep the athletes on track to attend BHS. Currently we are losing athletes to other campuses by the choice of parents, or unfortunately due to recruitment by other schools.

What we really need is a dynamic coach that can reach our families and kids, build a program from the ground up, and create a winning atmosphere that builds excitement and interest from our families. It can be done - this is a very important hire and must accomplish all of these things.

I don't think that's an option.

Unfortunately, Bryan High was underachieving when it all those athletes were funneling into one school 20 years ago. There needs to be a culture change at Bryan High. I believe that's got to start at the elementary and middle school levels. The next coach can't just sit in that field house and wait for whoever shows up.

Good for him.

Sounds like some folks around here need to run for the school board with all these stellar ideas being tossed about.
