Men's Haircut (not Barber) Recommendation?

Barbers are great, I use Maroon & White Barber Shop quite often and love them.

But I've been told, and my limited experience validates that barbers are trained with short hair, and that there's different expertise/training needed for long(er) hair. I''m currently growing my hair out (not really long, just not my typical bald fade), and I've been told that every three months you need to get a trim to keep the hair "healthy" (whatever that means).

Any recommendations for someone in town who would have experience helping a guy with guidance and the cut as he's growing it longer?

I know you said not a barber but give Hudson Barber Emporium in downtown Bryan a shot. Their clientele is a little more varied than the usual barbershop.

That was actually my fallback option - from using the TexAgs search feature and looking at their website, I thought I might give them a call.

Holly @ Balboa's is great. She works with long hair and can also give you a nice fade. She is a hair stylist first!

The French Door. They do a great job. I was in the same boat a few years ago.

This is precisely why I will not go there.

I've got stuff to do, I'm not hanging around a barber for an hour before getting in the chair.

Also why I avoid Dutch Bros. I'm not waiting in line when I can order online somewhere else.

Different strokes for different folks.

I can't predict a week in advance when I can get a cut.

I've never waited an hour ANYWHERE but I'm only 60 so maybe that day is coming.

The banter and good natured ribbing that goes on in the room between barbers and customers is great entertainment. I prefer that to the alternative

I have curly hair, so whenever I move to a new place, it takes a while to find someone who knows how to cut my hair. Elise at Kelly's is the one.
