Looking to take my boys fishing sometime today and get them introduced to that life. They're still a little too young to take hunting so we'll stick with fishing for now.

Caught a big perch at the pond by our house last night and they're hooked. Pun intended.

Just looking to catch and release and spend some time with my boys. I've heard Central Park is decent for bass.

Not really wanting to drive out to Lake Bryan or Conroe. Just some small stocked ponds for now.

Be sure and get your fishing license if you haven't already. The kids won't need it if they're under 17.

Trump will fix it.

Relevant sig line is relevant.

The best place I found when I was in school was the small Lake Finfeather behind the feed barn. We'd drop our kayaks in it and catch lots of (small) bass. It seems like we'd hook up every few casts.

It's in the middle of the industrial area so I sure wouldn't keep anything though.

Check the TPWD site for their upcoming trout release schedule, which includes Central Park

My little brother is big into fishing and he thinks the pond off Nantucket is the best. Not sure if it's for residents only though, he knows somebody that lives there to get in and mostly fishes from a boat.

He's enjoyed the finfeather one too, but mentions washing up real good after you go lol.

It absolutely is for residents and guests. Getting busted can earn a trespassing violation and a fine.

Friend found out the hard way.

Back in the day the lake between the South end of 17/35 runway and the Brayton fire school was lights out. You had to talk your way out of trouble with UPD on occasion. Always successful at that and caught some 5-6# bass and big crappie there. Would guess that the TSA would have a heart attack if you were inside the fence now.

Lake Bryan is not bad. The city parks can be hit or miss. Gabbard is,ok. The good think about city parks is you can pack up and just take the kids to lunch, no fuss home in 10 minutes

I've seen many people fishing the pond right behind the george bush library. Have no idea how well stocked it is.

I believe I saw a sign at the Jones Crossing retention pond beside HEB that said something about fishing. Anyone know if they stocked this pond for fishing?

Overall, I've been much more successful on the fly rod than any other combo.

Mostly small bass and perch.

When it's cool, top water rattle traps work great there.

Rapala Ultralite Firetiger and the Rebel Pop R in chrome have been a go-to for years there no matter how hot or cold it is outside.
