A lot of my engineering students use or have used A plus tutoring to get through Math 151 early on at A&M.

They have all been in groups. Not sure if that matters for her or not. You can check out of her specific course is offered on their website

Additionally in the fall when a lot of grad students are back they offer tutoring as well

Unfortunately, we only offer Test Prep coaching (SAT, ACT, and AP). However, they're are a host of other centers who offer subject tutoring.

Looking for a tutor seems like something that Brylynn could start doing on her own

I'd like to visit with your wife and have emailed her. Please have her contact me with the information in my profile. Thank you.

You might call one of the 2 local Mathnasium locations. They only tutor K-12, but could probably recommend someone. Most of their employees are college kids and math/science majors.

Thanks but don't think she is interested in working within a retail system where someone is taking markup on top of her rate.

Perhaps your expectations aren't in line with current market rates? Are you looking for a starving grad student or an experienced educator with teaching and tutoring experience. My wife has both but her rate is $50/hr.she was doing well at $75/hr in Dallas area before we moved to CS last year.

Pretty normal rate around here for any type of tutoring is $50 an hour - music, tennis, math. The only way you will find less is to join a class.

The poster above that listed a $25.00 fee is likely the lowest you're going to find for one on one, and that's actually a bargain. Pre-pandemic and prior to moving out of state, my oldest (TAMU '18) was earning $60 per hour to tutor math through Calc. III, basic and O-Chem, Physics, and Bio. All one on one, and following students' progress through post exams to ensure success.

To put in perspective, many of the folks above have completed college degrees and have a specific knowledge base and skill set even if the BCS area has a larger number of degree seekers/holders. If a high schooler can earn around $10/hour at a fast food restaurant and it costs around $30 to have a lawn mowed--both jobs that require some training and some skill or equipment cost, $50 for a person with a degree that's running about $120,000 is not unreasonable.

To lower cost going with a group setting, pursuing additional help from the college/department itself, or using online resources may be your best bet if $25 is too high.

Blinn has tutoring for students, so your daughter may wish to give that a try. I believe it is free to Blinn enrolled students.

Of offense...if you have why are you continuing to look for one?

I wish you luck...I usually do large group tutoring but have done plenty of one on one. I charge a minimum $75 per hour and tell them to have specific stuff they want to focus on to save them time and money. Usually they have no plan on what they want, and thus spend 3x the amount of time necessary
