Have you eaten at 1775? I'm surprised it's not on the list. I think it's really, really good and blows anything else in BCS away.

If anyone is looking for part time work on the weekends, Blue Moon could use you. I stopped by there over the weekend and they were overwhelmed. I asked and its just like everywhere else, nobody is applying.

Brisket house is pretty average as far as Houston bbq places go. Personally I'd rather go to Rudy's.

1775 is awful. Everyone should avoid going. Seriously...there's so many better options in town. Please STOP going to 1775.

What? 1775 is so, so far from awful.

Yes it's fantastic and I wish them all the success, just not at my inability to keep enjoying their BBQ fairly easily.

1775 and Fargo's both made the Runner's Up 50 list with Texas Monthly.

My biased guess, but I think 1775 should've made the top 50 in the 10-50 range they do and probably would've in 2017 (think that was the last list). I think they got pushed out because an emphasis seemed to be put on "innovation" this top 50.

Now have I traveled the state eating at 400+ bbq joints to come to this conclusion? No, so it's probably best to ignore my opinion lol.

Agree completely. Totally deserving of top 50.

Do you remember Randy Sims BBQ House off of Texas Ave?

I guess 1775 needs to add a jicama slaw with pickled watermelon rind to the menu to make the list. Maybe the staff could use seat belts from an '84 Ford Escort as actual belts too, that may give them some extra points.

You mean where you ordered chopped beef and randy would cut a block off the brisket and chop it right in front of you? Ya i remember the restaurant, mayor and county judge.

Talk to me about the What's the Deal BBQ truck in Bryan on Texas Ave. I drive past it all the time, there is always a line.

If anyone has tried it, would love to hear, and also what a "must try" there would be.
one of the top 2 or 3 in all of B/CS imo. We get bbq to go from there regularly. The brisket is phenomenal, but most of their stuff is. I think their best sides are the candied yams and their beans.

Yes. I helped run his BBQ House for almost 15 years. The bbq sauce, potato salad, cole slaw and bbq beans recipes still stand with me. I remember like this was just yesterday. I can still trim and slice a brisket with my eyes closed. As the famous Jackie Gleason once said. "How Sweet it is..."

I've hit quite a few different bbq joints across the state and 1775 absolutely should be on the list. I just ate guess family bbq in Waco, who did make the list, on Wednesday for the second time and it was far below the 5-10 times I've eaten 1775.

Had a buddy who went to 1775 yesterday and said they had a longer line and were selling out of stuff earlier than normal so even making the honorable mention list has helped them out.

To be honest, I kind of like that they didn't make the list (even though they are very deserving of it) as the lines would just be that much longer and it would be even more people I'd have to wait behind.

I always laugh at the BCS locals that say we don't have good ___ restaurants. Seriously, I've heard we lack good Mexican, Italian, bbq, steakhouses, and more. You'd think we don't have any places to eat at in this town.

Went to 1775 today. Those ribs. Oh my goodness. Everything's good, but those ribs are outstanding.

Got a feeling they'll go the way of Dickie's. Food tasted like it came out of a freezer. Bet there were only 6 people there at lunch.

If you happen to know of any good Italian in town, let me know (haven't any luck on that front in ages).

I like cafe Capri, but it's menu is pretty limited so you either find something you like from their like 6 choices or you don't.

Wasn't impressed with 1860 but a lot of people like it.

Luigis was good the one time I've been, probably should get it again some time.

Haven't had Amico Nave, but everyone seems to like it and I'm not sure why I haven't tried it.

I think that covers the main choices.

Frittella on Texas Ave is great and very reasonably priced.

Paolo's on University is a little more expensive but also good as well. Get the chicken parmesan and thank me later.

1860 I only have a sample size of 1 but was good the time we were there, pocketbook was significantly lighter though....

Amico Nave is ok, not bad but just think there are better options out there.

Havent been to Luigi's ever and Cafe Capri in a long time so I cant speak to those.

No offense to Cooper's or any of their followers, but I'm not a big fan of theirs, especially for the price (I know BBQ is expensive yada yada yada).

But if Cooper's doesn't make it, can we all vote to open up a Terry Black's in its location?
