Lake Bryan to get used to the kayak. Plenty of room to paddle. It worked fine for me as a starter.

I feel safe at lake bryan and gibbons creek. Only downfall to gibbons is it is only open from Friday to Sunday, so there tend to be a lot of boaters. Most are considerate. Some don't care they may tip you and just gun it.
