If in town 2x a month that's 2x more than anyone else. Just drive to the Woodlands or Austin or Temple.

Dr Jonathan Ramprasad at Scott and White served us well. We were able to schedule appointments in Bryan/College Station 95% of the time. He was very good at answering questions and directing care via MyChart system. Our pedi cardiologist and pedi endocrinologist and pedi pulmonologist were all in Houston so having one specialist that came to town was pretty nice.

There's not one based here full time. We see Ramprasad and have been able to schedule appointments when he's here in town, except once for telehealth after a procedure. The drive to Temple isn't bad at all, though!

Dr Easley comes to UPA (Texas Children's) once or twice a month. Seems good. Very personable.

We tried here, were not satisfied and ended up at Texas Children's. From our experiences, that is the only solution.

There are basically no pediatric specialists in BCS, there is just not enough population to support them full time. You are going to be stuck with TCH Woodlands or Katy or the intermittent visits with S&W or TCH specialists.

Over the decades in Texas I've had good experience with both Easley and Ramparasad. Pedi GIs are pretty special in general and I almost never get negative feedback from families about any of them.

Without knowing the specific need for your child needing a GI, I would highly recommend going to a larger city and getting in with an experienced specialist. I have Crohn's disease and have had 6 major surgeries due to the disease. It is an inconvenience traveling to Houston for appointments but they have a much wider range of knowledge and experience. That is not to say we don't have terrific GI teams in college station but getting the right diagnosis and treatment is critical.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Barton at TCH in the Woodlands.

She has cared for our daughter with Crohns and we have seen major improvements and she passes all the test of my wife who is a pedi NP in BCS.

Try Dr. Barton.

We use Dr. Chu at TCH-Woodlands for my daughter's gastroparesis and all the folks there have been great.

This is a good point, if you suspect IBD, make sure the physician you choose is very familiar with the disease and all available treatments. Pediatric IBD, especially VEO should that apply, is a different animal from adult onset.
