They were unloading a trailer full of light towers when I drove through there yesterday afternoon, so I assume they're getting ready for an early morning concrete pour.

Also, do yourself a favor and do not speed in that construction zone, especially when workers are present.

CSPD has cleaned up with the traffic stops there.

It's kind of odd but east bound traffic speed limit is posted at 45 (only sign I can see) and west bound clearly marked 30. Best be careful

Current status seems to be working as fast as possible to get the area in front of Forest Ridge done by next Wednesday (first day of school). We'll see if that happens. Either way that is going to be a big ol' mess for the first couple weeks - bigger than it usually is.

Meanwhile, the new west bound lanes between Castlegate Drive and Donnington have the dirt removed several feet below the current roadway. Will they pour new road down at that depth then, when removing and re-doing the current roadway, bring it down to the same depth? Or will they fill in new dirt before pouring concrete to bring the new westbound roadway up closer to the current roadway (or even)... ?

They are out doing cross overs this afternoon. Will divert traffic onto the new north lanes in front of Forrest ridge shortly.. The road has significant rise & fall, you can look at the tops of the drainage wells to see what at what level. I suspect they will put the flood gauge near castle gate entrance along with the gates/barricades for flooding. Maybe put in cameras to watch the experienced SA & Tine residents cars floating down the road.

Traffic was diverted last night when I went into town around 7:00. I have to admit they made a lot of progress in a couple days to get ready for the school opening next week.

Brazos County Commissioners Approve Spending More Than $4 Million To Widen Greens Prairie Road Between Improved Sections In College Station

Quote:

Six months ago, Brazos County commissioners were asked to widen the county's portion of Greens Prairie Road between two improved areas in the city of College Station.

During Tuesday's meeting, commissioners unanimously approved an interlocal agreement (ILA) where the county will spend $4.2 million dollars.

County judge Duane Peters says College Station will be responsible for future maintenance.
College Station mayor Karl Mooney, speaking on WTAW's The Infomaniacs, thanked the commission for approving the agreement.

The ILA has yet to be considered by the College Station council.

Thank god. That was going to suck having the narrow section between Castlegate and Creek Meadows.

This will not fix it. County said would chip in 4M on condition that cocs pays for design and any expenses above the 4M and also take over the maintenance of it. Pretty sure estimated cost above that and city spen your last dime on macys so tough.
I think they should have told them fo, but half commissioners ct are ex cocs council members.

The road is done.

The traffic signal at GP and Castlegate is operational.

Are we going to turn on the street lights that were installed as part of this project?

And when are they going to end the work zone 30 mph speed limit and uncover the 40mph signs that have already been installed between Arrington and Castlegate Drive?
Most of the work zone signage is gone, so most drivers are following their own speed limit suggestions.

Ill add one. How about the left turn arrow and sign on the new redlight. Where a road doesn't exist to turn left to.

It's so people can make u-turns.

When are they going to get started removing the traffic light at castle gate and get the traffic circle installed

That's for future expansion of Greens Prairie Reserve, if I remember correctly.

The City actually planned ahead for that one.

No clue if true or not, but my neighbor said that they are planning to do landscaping work and are keeping the work zone in place until that is done.

Yep. The new street sign is up. The future street will be Diamondback St. And there's a No UTurn sign up at the intersection as well.

Council just voted to make it 45, not 40.

You mean the weeds that have gone unchecked for the better part of the last year aren't staying?

Glad they did that before they put up any 40mph signs.

Oh wait....

They'll be replacing the light by the time that gets done.

Or made the lanes questionably too narrow to support 45mph.

Construction zone stuff has been removed and speed limit is now 45mph for part of that route and 40mph from The Realm of Wentworth (??) to Arrington.

Street lights along most of the road are still not working yet.
