Currently pregnant with my first child and looking for good pediatrician recommendations. Preferably in CS and with the St Joe's network as that is what my insurance currently covers. TIA!

KidDoc! Seriously, Dr. Neal Spears. Both of our boys love him.

I'm not certain if he's taking new patients currently but call them Monday and ask. I really like everyone we've dealt with in his office.

Haha I always wondered who that was! That was the first name that came up in my insurance search. Good to know he's the real deal!

I knew I wanted to use him when my youngest was born. We were in the NICU in Austin (loooooooong story) and when I told them who my pedi was going to be several of the social workers and nurses knew who he was from his previous job.

We've used Dr. Parr over at Texas Children's Pediatrics at the Med for all three of ours since we've been local and had great experiences. Dr. Goen (sp?) and a couple other physicians work out of the same office there and we've seen a number of them when Parr wasn't available and never had a bad experience.

Everyone there is great. Parr, Schams, Tomlin, Harris (nurse practitioner) are all great.

We see Dr. Sullivan at Texas Pediactrics/UPA and have only the must positive things to say about her. I've been impressed that while she only sees us once, maybe twice, a year, if she ever sees us out in public, she still recognizes my daughter by name and a few details about her. She clearly cares about her patients. In fact, when we moved away for 8 years, we kept Dr. Sullivan because we loved her so much. I will echo what above posters have said about the other doctors at Texas Pediactrics/UPA. We have seen Dr. Parr and Dr. Schaums when Dr. Sullivan was unavailable and they were both fantastic. Would certainly recommend anyone at the practice.

Dr Ransom has a great rep but i am not sure taking on any more patients. I would check and see.

Thank you for all the recs! Unfortunately, it looks like my insurance does not cover Texas Children's/UPA, but I will certainly keep them in mind if circumstances change.

I cant star this enough! We LOVE Dr. Spears (and my kids like him too!)

He has been great working with us to figure out some issues with my son, and is extremely knowledgeable and actually listens to patients, rather than just inputting everything in the computer while you sit in silence (this was my experience with BSW)

As Family Med doc, Dr Rusty Bacak has taken care of my entire family, including kids. Many (many) years ago, my daughter was a preemie and took an air ambulance to Texas Childrens for about 3 weeks. They sent her home in much better shape than she arrived and the care there was exceptional.

We took her to Dr Bacak for first checkup and he sent us right back to Texas Childrens for a suspected condition that he thought might have been missed/overlooked during her stay in the NICU. I still recall the look on the specialists face when the tests came back and the doc said "Now *who* told you that this might need a specialist? Well that was an excellent catch." It took about 3 years of follow up treatments/follow up and Texas Children's got her all patched up.

We still see Dr Bacak and I would not hesitate to recommend him. He knows what he knows. He knows what he needs to refer out. He listens to patients (even the kids) and is very practical in his advice. I personally appreciate that he knows and treats the whole family. Just my 2 cents.

Didn't mean he wasn't a great doc ... He's very good. The question was about pediatrician. He's not a pediatrician. He is a great Family Medicine resource.

My kids have seen Dr. Krause their whole lives and she's been awesome. They have also seen Dr. Spears several times and he's amazing, as well.

Honestly, B/CS is pretty blessed when it comes to pediatricians. We have several great ones to choose from.

See post below mine. He has taken care of both my boys since birth. Now 9 and 7.

Another vote for Dr. Krause. My daughter has been going to her for 12 years and she is wonderful! She is in the St. Joe's complex by the Lowes in CS.

Yes I recommend me thanks for the kind words!

Honestly all of the pediatricians with UPA & S&W and St Jo are excellent. You really cannot go wrong in this town we are very lucky.
