Recently got rid of directv.

Bought an indoor antenna and get all the channels listed here: https://www.rabbitears.info/market.php?request=print_market&mktid=118

My question is: if I bought an antenna for the attic or to put where directv had their dish on the roof....what extra channels could I realistically get out here in south cs?

Thank you.

What indoor antenna do you have? I live on the south side of CS and cannot get stable NBC and ABC signals using an indoor antenna, but my living room window faces south. TIA

Depends on trees and how high you mount the external antenna

I ab e experience with this one in Bryan but not sure about what it will pick up in south CS

What additional channels are you getting versus the link I posted that shows all the channels I get with the indoor one I am using......would love to see what additional channels ppl are getting To make a decision on getting the attic/outdoor one or not.

Thank you.

We're up in N. Bryan and have a roof-mounted amplified antenna and get all the channels listed in the OP. We get a handful of others as well, but I couldn't tell you anything about any of them because I never have the desire to watch them. I think you listed all those I'd be hopeful to get.

I'm getting all of those you listed with an indoor antenna (behind the TV) in King Oaks. Oddly enough, I have an outdoor TV on the back porch and I had to install an indoor antenna at the gutter to get NBC and ABC. Those seem like the toughest ones to get.

Go to https://www.tvfool.com/ and perform a location assessment. It will tell you how far off the ground to mount the antenna at your house to receive which signal, as well as where to aim it to best pick up all of the signals. I mounted a 4 element bowtie in my attic several years ago based on this data and it was spot on. Several friends have followed with similar results.

Honestly, that's pretty much everything. I would be surprised if your ABC signal is consistent with an indoor antenna, but they might have improved their signal over the years.

I have a large, directional antenna pointed roughly at Temple and I can occasionally get Dallas area broadcasts. It's all the same stuff with the exception of a couple of different subchannels (the most interesting one being a Vietnamese language channel).

Thanks for the replies. Seems I'm good with the one I got....Unless this one can really get 200+ mile range!?

I was looking on amazon and this is supposedly the best seller for Indoor....says 200+ range???? No way it could get close to that range??

In South College Station I get 13 channels, but 2 are spanish and 1 is all day cartoons on PBS. My antenna is in the attic. No positioning or anything. Just screwed it to a roof joist and ran the cable.

Seems like every 6-8 months I have to rescan for channels though. They keep moving around.

Tim, I'm curious which antenna you are using and if you have foil-backed roof decking on your home?

I do not have foil anything up there. This place was built in 1980, and cheaply at that.

Not sure what antenna it is, but it came from Monoprice. Similat in design to this one, but not exactly the same model.

Just a reminder, that the 200 mile range is the diameter, not the radius. So if it does in fact have a 200 mile range, that means 100 miles in either direction.

You should be able to pick up channels 25, 44, and 46. I think they come out of Temple or Waco.

When I was younger and cheaper I built something very similar to that out of a 2x2, some dollar store baking racks, spare copper wire and some sheet rock screws. Worked pretty well at the time, probably 20 years ago.
