On the DSHS dashboard, all boosters are lumped together. It's posted as "People vaccinated with at least one booster."

Three things. First ICU always bad and prayers for patients and families. Second - as it becomes more of a cold and less of a flu the decrease in testing may lead to a higher percentage of the tested positive being ICU patients. Thirdly - being in ICU with Covid is different than being in the ICU from Covid. Since 100% of ICU patients are tested that is even more true. I know all 3 of these have been covered before but still bears remembering.

Note: Age group added 0-4 years old. CDC number is actually 6 mo to 4 years, but to simplify, I just use population group of 4 years or less. May not be exact but close enough to get an idea what is actually going on (and makes calulations simpler).

Note, this is intended to be "monthly" information but there is no actual "end of month" numbers. Data is posted daily and this is Aug31 vs Sep30.

FULL VACCINE STATUS:

Vaccinations by age groups with "full vax" status for the Texas and Brazos County as percent. Last two columns are the count of Brazos County residents with "full vax" along with change over last month, and finally county residents that have not had a full vaccination "BC = not full".

BOOSTER VACCINE STATUS:

Vaccinations by age groups with "boost(s)" (one or more) status for the Texas and Brazos County as percent. Last two columns are the count of Brazos County residents with "boost(s)" along with change over last month, and finally county residents that have not had a booster vaccination "BC = no boost".

Just an FYI, concerning "Dates of Death" information:

The state quit posting the spreadsheets in August.

"COVID-19 Case, Fatality & Hospital Data over Time - Excel Files

Note: The following data files are available by request on Mondays. Please email chs-info@dshs.texas.gov on Mondays for an updated file."

This is a cut & paste from my last post in August.

COVID-19 Total Fatalities by County per state spreadsheet 03-07-2020 to 08-23-2022 at 9:30 AM CST

By death certificate date of death.

JAN 2021 = 58
FEB 2021 = 25
MAR 2021 = 18
APR 2021= 11
MAY 2021 = 5
JUN 2021 = 3
JUL 2021 = 6
AUG 2021 = 36
SEP 2021 = 35
OCT 2021 = 15
NOV 2021 = 4
DEC 2021 = 5
JAN 2022 = 28
FEB 2022 = 16
MAR 2022 = 3
APR 2022 = 3
MAY 2022 =4
JUN 2022 = 1

JUL2022 = 5
07/01/22 # 419 NEW
07/11/22 # 420
07/23/22 # 421
07/24/22 # 422
07/25/22 # 423

AUG2022 =3
08/04/22 # 424
08/10/22 # 425 NEW
08/10/22 # 426 NEW

"NEW" reported by state in last 9 days ending 8/23/22.

PS: State did not update their spreadsheet until late yesterday (8/25) and the actual spreadsheet was dated 8/23. I had been posting once a week on Tuesdays. Will adjust based on frequency of state updates.

Since the information is a hassle, I haven't tried the email process. Mimi's info appears to indicate that the deaths are on the low end of the historical data. Anyway, unless the trend changes I probably won't update.

But to reiterate what Mimi said, the date reported and the actual date of death can be quite different, and especially if they "clean-up" their database.

Good to see those hospitalization numbers drop again.

I'm curious (though I think I know the answer) if we'll see stats on "long Covid" (post sars cov-2 syndrome) in the future? My doc at the Physician's Center is keeping data on the folks he's treating, I wonder how many others are. I think it's an interesting metric, though I'm fully aware it's controversial with many folks.

Given how long reported cases were higher than most of the state (they had started to decline and then the students came back) a sharp drop really isn't a surprise.

And the majority of people are not testing anymore, or only use a home test, so we can assume the real number is higher, but the official test results still give a decent metric to see how active the virus currently is. The only people who really are getting lab tests done anymore do so because they get admitted to the hospital for something, visit a doctor and get tested because they're sick, because their employer requires it, or they still have a March 2020 mindset about the virus and get tested for every sniffle.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill
