Coming into Aggieland for kid's lacrosse tournament at Penberthy fields today.

Where should we head for lunch?

Was thinking Fargos or C&J. Honestly, Fargos cause I always hear Gabe pimpin them on the radio.

Didn't realize Coopers is in town now and forgot about Good Bull as well.

Recommendations?

We like brisket first, then ribs, the sausage if that matters with selection.

1775 is first choice. Probably out of the way for where you'll be.

Coopers is the easy second.

It's not even 5 minutes away from 2818 and they're already right there close to 2818/60

Fargo's ain't anywhere close to as good as they used to be. Quality has gone down hill. 1775 is awesome, but get there early. Coopers is good, just different.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Planning to go to 1775, but had to run an errand in town the other direction and ended up going to Coopers.

Had the brisket, pork ribs, & beef ribs and we all thought it was good.

I prefer a thicker sauce while their sauce is more liquid base, but overall everyone liked it.

Thanks again!

You do know how marketing works on radio?

You buy advertising and they play your commercial.

btw how did your daughters team do at the lacrosse tournament.

I was there for my granddaughters team. They went 1-2

Lacrosse! Played at A&M from 2001-2005...fond memories hosting the Aggieland Classic.

1775 for pork steaks and smoked Turkey. Really really wish they'd cut back on the coarse black pepper everything is overloaded with. It's not even spicy. Just harsh and overpowering.

Yeah, I get it. Obviously, it almost worked!

I was thinking of going there, then I realized the only one that ever really said it was good was Gabe, and that was a paid ad!

That is why I asked the locals.

My son's team, 4U Magnolia, went 2-0, going back tomorrow at 8 for day 2.

I know you want something close but if you are going back to say Houston try Truth in Brenham on way home unless you are here til later on Sunday.

As for local. My go to is 1775 for their turkey first and foremost. Like Fargo's ribs but not as much as older location. I will get punished heavily for this likely but I still like C&J BBQ for their jalapeo sausage and some sides but nothing compares to Truth except the smoked Turkey if 1775 IMO

1775 if you want damned good BBQ.

Coopers if you want damned expensive BBQ.

Good Bull if you want something that tastes like BBQ cooked in a grocery store (i.e. BBQ you could make better at home). C&J's isn't much better.

Fargos is a great alternative, too.

I'm going to get flamed for this, but Rudy's is a solid "fast food" BBQ option if all others don't work out.

I've got absolutely no hate for Rudy's. They're pretty consistent day & night across locations and that's tough to do. It's average barbecue but it satisfies that craving.

And it's certainly beats the heck out of C&Js or Good Bull.

Fargo's is not as good as they used to be.

I thought 1775 was just OK. Maybe my expectations were too high due to the praise from here.

Coopers can be good but you never get what you ask for. If you ask for 1/2 lb of brisket, you will not get 1/2 of brisket. My dad absolutely hates their sauce.

I'm not a big fan of C&J's but at least with them you know exactly what you're going to pay.

My vote is for Coopers. I'll be celebrating the big Four-Six b-day Wednesday night there. Y'all come buy me a Shiner...
