Flyovers already, Easterwood?
They've done it before. Completely underwhelming. Plus, they take too long to cruise over; gameday logistics demand rapid progression through second-by-second milestones.AggiePhil said:
Friend of mine has a son on a B-52. Asked about having a BUFF do one of the flyovers and was told that "the powers that be" prefer fighters. Really wish they would consider other military aircraft in addition to the usual fighters.
Don't get me wrong; I thought they were cool as hell. My opinion seemed to be the minority, though.momlaw said:
I gotta tell ya' B 52s are show stoppers.
The sense of overwhelming power seemingly suspended as they traverse.
Ask any Hanoi Hilton POW about B 52s.
Then aptly named, Operation Linebacker, for a football flyover.
God Send would be their response.
In December, 1989 I was on one of the first flights of soldiers from Fort Ord to Panama for that invasion. I was in the passenger compartment of a C5 with most of my battalion command and staff. Our general path was from Travis AFB to Cuba then south to Panama. When we were in or near Cuban airspace the co-pilot came back with a huge grin on his face and said the Cuban air traffic tower and told us two things:momlaw said:
