Me and the the wife usually go to Vegas for our gambling trips, but i thought i might take her for quick trip on a weekend to either place. We have never been to either place so i am wondering which is better? any thoughts?

You could always take a short 2 hour trip to Livingston:

I'm a Lauberge fan in lake Charles and El Dorado in Bossier City.

Margarittaville--Shreveport. But our favorite is Coushatta in Kinder La.

Thanks for the response. When you go to Vegas, there is always a blackjack table or a slot machine open to sit down at. How crowded are the casinos in Louisiana? Can you get on a table or machine at night? Also, anybody got any good places to eat in either city?

The wife and I are heading to Lake Charles this next weekend! We are staying at Lauberge. Honestly we've never had much luck at the Nugget. As far as eating goes, we have two places we eat at just about every time.

Daryl's Sandwich Shop - get there as close to 11a when they open as you can, because most of time if you don't, they get swamped (no pun intended for being in Louisiana!)

Steamboat Bills - all sorts of seafood. All amazing if you ask me. Definitely get the pistolettes and thank me later!

I lived in Shreveport during high school and my parents lived there for 30 years and retired there.

Eating:

Ernest's Orleans Restaurant http://www.ernestsorleans.com/

Steak and sea food are both excellent. Whatever you eat, order marinated and fried crab claws as an appetizer. Everyone I have ever taken to eat there has said it is the best food they have ever had.

Joe Cobb BBQ https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cobb-Joe-Bossier-Bar-B-Q/113943371969738

This place is a small, unimpressive building, but the Cobb brothers have had BBQ places in Shreveport and Bossier for over 60 years. This is the last surviving one. I don't know what the other BBQ they serve is like, but they have something I have never had anywhere else: sliced BBQ ham sandwiches. They melt in your mouth. Incredible stuff.

Both these places are very close to the Horseshoe and other casinos.

A lot of people like Strawn's https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g40424-d663414-Reviews-Strawn_s_Eat_Shop-Shreveport_Louisiana.html

There are now several locations. The one on King's Hwy is the original.

You'll be able to get on pretty much any kind of table you want, it just may not be the table minimum you like. PaiGow and Craps can be tough. It other than that you should be good.

No table games there as I recall. Just slots.
